The only sushi I will eat! The staff is excellent and always treats you like family. Sashimi far exceeds it anywhere else. The restaurant is clean and service is always good and fast. I highly recommend. My husband and I love the Sapporo roll. But they’re all great! I also really appreciate that they will modify anything to accommodate dietary restrictions. The to go is just as good as in store, as well Katie & Emily are our favorite servers, but again the whole staff gets 5 stars! We’ve brought our employees here for company dinners, and they all thoroughly enjoyed it and had no problem finding something on the menu that was for them. I think it would be fair to say that this is my favorite restaurant in Lynchburg, and and for good reason. Recently we’ve been getting into the Japanese BBQ as well and it’s very good! A cool experience, fun and good food! I love the American black wagyu and the mushrooms and my husband loves the shrimp! The dipping sauces are great. It’s not hard and the grills are very clean! It’s a must-try experience! Also the house salad with sesame dressing with added chicken is delicious! You really can’t order anything bad here, everything is good and the service is 10/10 Update: we went again 7/11 , and of course it was a perfect date night but I want to add Miya (spelling?) is another great waitress , she remembered our order from when she was still in training, even remembering my husband’s stomach problems from months ago and made sure everything was perfect for us. It’s so rare to find someone that cares, but especially cares enough to remember months later.

This place is amazing! We lived in Japan for 6 years and frequented yakiniku's on a weekly basis! This place brought back so many great memories of our dinners with friends and families overseas. Kudos to the owner and chefs for the authentic Japanese feel and food! This place is spot on and we will be back everytime we are in town! First of all, presentation is key for being a true Japanese restaurant and this place is spot on! The big nice picture menus, spotless dining area and the polite staff were a nice reminder of the small things we missed. The food is amazing! The presentation of the meat when it arrived was unbelievable. The quality, portion, and attention to detail when preparing orders was not what I was expecting for lunch today. The meat alone is good and of course you have control of how you want it cooked, but when paired with some of the suaces provided on the table, it made it even better. This is definitly a place you need to check out if you are looking for authentic Japanese BBQ!

Great experience! We visited Yamada on Easter in lieu of cooking at home. The experience is fun and something my husband has never done before. We ordered a few appetizers (including their DELICIOUS kimchi) and a variety of meat/seafood. We don’t eat red meat, so I don’t have any feedback on that, but I’m sure they’re all delicious. With three people, I felt like the grill was a bit crowded if we all wanted to eat more than a couple of bites at the same time. The table next to us had 6 people with one grill and I can imagine that wasn’t easy to manage. This is a great place for two people to dine, but I would hesitate to bring more than that. Something that would be helpful that I’ve seen at Korean BBQ restaurants is a small timer for each patron to use and a guide of how long each protein should cook. With some foods, like chicken, you can never be too safe. We were pleased by our visit and we look forward to returning again.

Staff is friendly but service was basically absent. The one who took our drink order never came back at all, the one who eventually brought our first drinks forgot mine. We had to wave someone down to take an order, and only once did someone check if we needed refills. There was one man who seemed to be doing all of it, but it didn't seem like he was intended to be the wait staff. He just seemed to be cleaning up the issues as best he could on his own.

We ordered sushi and the fried chicken to start and I think they forgot about the sushi? It came out way later, but we didn't ask or remind anyone so maybe it just took a while.

That fried chicken was one of the worst I've had. It was hard to the point of being uncomfortable to chew and did not taste good. It came with three variations but the sauce was barely on it and the really hard shell overpowered much of the taste. It's been a long time since I didn't finish a piece of fried chicken.

The entree turned out nicely. The slices of meat to be cooked on the grill were well seasoned, cut cleanly, and tasty. It is not very big portions for the price, so make sure you know that going in, but it was good meat. If you want to go in just for the grilling, I'd say it is a good choice. Maybe it was a messy afternoon for service, but service was inattentive and inconsistent and the fried chicken really put a poor start to the experience. I'd recommend tempering expectations there.

P.S. thank you for the extra effort, guy who was not, but basically was,...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a new Japanese BBQ restaurant and I must say, it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat.

The first thing that struck me was the price. For the quality of food and the variety available, the price was incredibly reasonable. I was able to try a wide range of meats and seafood without breaking the bank.

Speaking of the food, the quality was simply superb. Everything was incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. From the succulent wagyu beef to the plump shrimp and scallops, every bite was a delight. The selection of vegetables and other accompaniments was equally impressive, with everything from Onions to brussle sprouts to kimchi on offer.

Of course, the star of the show was the DIY BBQ experience. Each table had a built-in grill where we were able to cook the food ourselves, ensuring that everything was cooked to our liking. The staff was incredibly helpful in guiding us through the process and offering tips and suggestions.

Overall, I cannot recommend this Japanese BBQ restaurant enough. The price is unbeatable, the quality and variety of food is outstanding, and the DIY BBQ experience is simply unforgettable. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine or just looking for a unique and delicious dining experience, this is the...
