Went with the family and tried several things, I got the charcoal chicken (med meal) with yucca and plantains, everything was delicious and very well flavored. Came with a brown salsa that was amazing - spicy too. We also got the quesadilla texana which was like a combination with shrimp, beef, and chicken I think - everything was fresh and flavorful, even the rice was well seasoned. And we ordered the carne asada with refried beans and the quality was also wonderful - well seasoned and no grizzle with the meat, good cut. We ordered mango and strawberry margaritas which were fresh and well balanced (real fruit puree, not too heavy on the sour mix, good amount of booze) - I think the mango was better than the strawberry though.
This is hands down one of the best restaurants I've tried in the Lynchburg area,...
Read moreWhat a phenomenal experience. This restaurant is owned and operated by a family originally from Honduras. The language spoken is primarily Spanish but some of the servers have a good grasp of the English language.
The cost of the food is reasonable. The flavors are authentic. This is by far the most authentic Latin restaurant in the Forest area. From a flavor perspective, it blows its competition out of the water.
They offer birria tacos but I requested the more traditional way of eating birria (as a soup with onion, cilantro and lime). The dish reminded me so much of my time living in Mexico. It's phenomenal.
100% will be coming back (I tried the puerco con chili verde on my first visit, which was delicious too). Adorable food. Great service. Phenomenal food....
Read moreBetter than La Carretta for most dishes, but ESPECIALLY tacos. For dining in, you seat yourself, and you need to come here when you're not in a rush. You'll definitely have to wait a while for your food, or even for your waiter to just check on you, but once you get the food it's all worth it!
⭐ Better yet: call in your order and pick it up, that's as fast as La Carretta does it. Get as many glorious tacos as you can eat, take them home and enjoy them there.
I highly recommend this restaurant. We've tried the enchiladas and a couple other things, but we'll keep going out of our way again and again to come here...
