Fiesta Tapatia Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Virginia

The food I've gotten here dining in is generally decent. The bad review is because of the customer service with takeout and delivery orders. There have been multiple times I've had problems with food being cold with take out, missing items or made incorrectly, being charged too much, etc.

Once a few months ago I questioned the prices as the menu online and the printed menu they gave me at the restaurant when placing my to-go order had different prices. When the person put the items in the register, they were even higher and when I asked, she said the printed menu was outdated. The menu she literally just handed me was outdated. Then they charged me 2 different fees, one was $1 or $2 and the other was 10-15%. One was for having a to-go order charge and I don't remember why the other fee.

Today I ordered delivery which consisted of salsa and chips, and chile rellenos. They never contacted me, but apparently refunded the chile rellenos stating the reason because it was "removed from my order." When I contacted the restaurant to ask why, he said because they were out of stock. I asked why was I not contacted and he said they did through the order system and I said it was ok, but I never received any communication in any way from anyone and never said it was ok nor that I still wanted the order without the rellenos. He said if I have a problem to contact the delivery company which has nothing to do with this situation. I ordered the food to have dinner, but yet no dinner came, just chips and salsa. So I paid over $20 in fees, tip, and the cost of the chips and salsa to be delivered and still have to find something else for dinner. To make matters even worse, the salsa is terrible tonight. It tastes really watered down without much flavor at all and is very thin. The delivery company also says that they can't issue a refund for the remainder of the order as there has already been a partial refund on the order. This whole ordeal tonight is outrageous and ridiculous!

If you want something reliable with actually getting quality food that you order and prices being consistent without costing more or being charged fees, you definitely need to go somewhere else. There are other Mexican options in town and really close by to Fiesta Tapatia which are actually consistent, reliable, and trustworthy. I’ve been here twice to pick up door dash orders. The first time the food was ready but the woman at the counter was very rude. Yesterday when I went in myself and another woman who was door dashing waited 20 minutes before anyone would speak to us. A worker actually made eye contact and ignored us multiple times and then proceeded to check people out who were dining in, right in front of us and then walked away when he was done as if we weren’t even there. The other dasher left because she was so frustrated. I then walked up to a waitress to let her know I was there to pick up an order and she waved her hand in my face to wave me away. The other worker continued to seat others who came in the restaurant and still ignored me until I finally got him to speak to me and the order had been sitting at the counter the whole time. But they didn’t have the complete order. It took almost an hour just to get acknowledged. I can’t speak on the food itself, it actually looked really good and I had been wanting to try it but based on the service I will NEVER go there again. Pros: the food was really quit good and huge portions for a decent price.

Cons, and there are many: First there was only one table in the whole restaurant occupied and then four gentleman sat at the bar after us. It took several minutes before we got seated and a male employee took our food order after some time. Then a female server came and took over our table. The service was terrible. Couldn’t get a refill, and had to ask several times for a check before someone else finally brought it. We got up to pay at the register because no one was coming back to take it, and after several minutes of standing at the register we were helped. After our card was charged we say the amount had changed and the restaurant charged us a fee for paying with a card. Absolutely nothing said this would happen on the receipt nor was this posted at the register. Above all this unknown charge was unacceptable and we will not be returning to this...
