The only time I have sent back food in my life.
This was truly the most hysterical and awful dining experience of my life. I ordered the Chef's salad ($9) and was simply expecting what we all remember from school lunches (the only option for adults visiting) - a simple salad, with ham cheese and egg.
What I got was; A pile of shredded lettuce 4 whole rolled pieces of ham on the side (first ? moment) 1 whole piece of Kraft singles cheese (WHAT!) a hard boiled egg that was green and black around the yolk Bottled (Kraft?) cheapo ranch
I tried to eat this... I had to get back to work and only have so much time so I take my first bite and decide I simply can't. When the waitress finally comes around to ask how everything is, I let her know that unfortunately I do not like this salad, and would like to send it back.
This might be a good time to mention that I was never once rude to any of these people (despite the owner earning it), and tipped the waitress $2 on a $3 bill (paid for my wifes fries)
The waitress goes to get the owner. The owner comes out and at first, concernedly asked what was wrong with my salad. I told her that I did not like it, its simply not what I was expecting and that unfortunately I did want to send it back.
She asks me to elaborate...
I give her the above reasons, and explain I was expecting homemade ranch, croutons (which they have upon request, after they give you plastic wrapped crackers with your $9 salad), sliced ham and egg that was boiled correctly (OH, and maybe toss the salad? How am I supposed to mix this heaping pile of mostly lettuce on a small plate?) - she is unphased and now lets me know that despite me not eating the salad, I will be paying full price. I said "No, im sorry but I will not be paying for this salad"...
2 minutes pass like this with her insisting that I will pay for the salad - I refuse.
Finally she decides it will be good enough for me to pay her "costs" on the salad. This is awesome - I am beginning to realize the person I am dealing with...
I ask if she is serious, and she insists that I must pay her cost of making the salad (Kraft single and all!)
I refuse, she insists and finally I had no choice...
"I guess you should go ahead and call the police, because I am NOT paying you anything for this disgusting salad"
Longer story short - she made ask her to call the police about 5 times before giving up and losing the $.90 she had invested in the worlds worst salad.
If I didn't know that the locals love this place, I would feel certain many of these reviews are fake or paid for. This manager/owner gave me an epic and hysterical story about the absolute worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant that didn't literally make me sick.
Also - I notice that the owner seems to reply to many of the reviews. I am curious to see if the response is at all reasonable or completely in line with the person I met. For what its worth, I will not be visiting again and I will not revise this review. You were terrible, you weren't even remotely interested in asking if I would like anything else etc - you just insisted I would pay full price for something I didn't eat (for good reason, it was epic levels of underwhelming for $9) and then fell back on wanting your costs.
If you are so concerned with replying to individual reviews, I am absolutely STUNNED you would risk this review in all its glory, over the COST of a $9 salad.
Thanks...
Read moreWent after many recommendations and checked out online menu. Donât go on weekends I would say. Especially after warning from disinterested waitress. Ordered the VT Reuben which had heard raves about and had seen picture of huge sandwich. What I got was a sandwich half the size of ones talked about and in photo. When I asked waitress for that sandwich was told different cooks on weekend and nothing she could do. Then at close of meal my friend asked for a to go cup of soda. She plopped an empty cup on our table and walked away. Thank goodness the soda dispenser was neat our table so we could fill the cup. Place was moderately busy but could tell from faces of most of staff not to ask questions. Donât believe I will be returning.
REVIEW FOLLOW UP: After receiving a response from owner questioning my authenticity and the circumstances of my visit I met with Ms Lily and we were able to talk and find out what happened that day as it was out of ordinary for the experience. After explaining what happened that day Ms Lily brought me the sandwich I thought I had ordered previously what I got was just as others had said HUGE and filling. It was amazing just as other reviewers had mentioned. I couldnât eat dinner that evening I was so full. The Reuben is AMAZING come hungry or youâre going to take some of it home. She was kind enough to bring me a slice of homemade chocolate almond cake which when saved to next day was...
Read moreWe decided to go the other day because we had a coupon from the attractions coupon book for a buy one get one free entree. When we arrived, there was a sign on the door saying they were no longer offering the coupon because ownership changed but they would treat us to a cookie instead. Fair enough, right? So we sit down to eat, the service was okay, we felt very rushed because there was only one server. Not her fault but it still felt like we were being rushed and once we received our food, we were never checked on or given refills. We finally had to ask the cashier for our check as we needed to go and our server was all over the place. We gave our coupon to her for the cookie and immediately she said âoh no, I wonât take that, that was from the old ownersâ we said we knew but the sign on the door said we could at least get a cookie. She refused and said she didnât care, then threw some peanut butter cup at us and told us thatâs all she would do. My husband even took a pic of the sign and showed her and she said she didnât care. We will...
