Pep's Bake Shop — Restaurant in Virginia

I'm so upset with this company for the simple fact that they don't listen or follow instructions, and a day like our wedding day it was not supposed to be this way at all. My wife and I ordered a wedding cake that was supposed to be three tiers high and have some elegant and rustic touches, but instead we got a 1 tier disaster that looked like a catchers mit meant for a four year old in little league. We sent the person in charge a picture of the three tier wedding cake and they said they would have it done and ready for pickup the day of our wedding which sounded great, but when we sent our son to pick it up he was even shocked to know this cake was going to be our wedding cake. We decided to go to Walmart and get cupcakes for our 200 plus guest. Can you believe that? Cupcakes.....and to be honest cupcakes tasted better than the cake we ordered. The cupcakes were soft and moist while the cake from this bake shop was dry and flakey, not at all what we were expecting. When we called the shop thinking we must have a mixed up order they said they thought not to many people were going to be at our wedding so why make a 3 tier cake? Then they realized how many people were going to be there and said we must have ordered the cake last minute because they would never make a cake for a wedding so close to Land of the Loon Festival. We ordered this cake way before the festival, and now as a customer it's mine and my wifes fault? It truely makes me upset especially since we have been coming here for years for cakes for our family. Take with it what you will. Our wedding day only comes once so thankyou. EVeryone loved the cupcakes from Walmart. Our wedding was beautiful and full of fun so I am thankful for that. EDIT- They did it again for my daughter's 10th birthday!! I requested a Wednesday Addams birthday cake, she asked what size and if I wanted an edible image, I responded yes and this is what they created!! Both her and I loved it!! Great job, Pep's and crew!

Absolutely love the service and quality of everything about Pep's!! Every time I go in there, whether it's for a quick doughnut or a sweet treat they greet me with a smile friendly hello, and wonderful customer service! The baked goods are always fresh and taste delicious. I recently ordered another birthday cake, this one was white, with white buttercream frosting and a layer of custard in the middle. It was delicious. I couldn't decide on which photo I wanted to use, they suggested both, and that worked out perfectly. I am very happy with the way the cake turned out and it tasted...

We come here for one thing only: their POTICA bread! (Pronounced Poh-teet-suh - rhymes with ‘pizza’) - it’s a cute and retro little shop on the main street in old Virginia. They make the recipe that the Italian bakery in town used to make before they went out of business- it’s in the same box and everything. There is another bakery in Hibbing that makes potica but theirs is far inferior in my opinion. This shop had fire damage due to an upstairs residence catching fire recently, and when we arrived the shop was being repaired and they weren’t really open yet, but when we asked about the potica the owner lit and and said he has just made a batch! He came out with a freshly boxed potica! I hope they get fully up and running again soon....
