First this spot looks like a little hole in the wall location, especially coming from the back but the inside is really nice.
I was in town for a conference and staying at one of the hotels not far from here.
Started off with the Nash & Smashed with Peri fries. Plenty of fries, cooked to perfection and crispy. The burger was the same. Cooked perfectly. They ask your spice level. I said Medium and it really wasn't spicy at all, so if you want a kick, go hot or extreme.
There was a slight wait but it wasn't long but you can tell they cook everything to order. No corners cut here.
Also added the 5 wings with Lemon and Herb. Wings were cooked well and tasted so fresh. I'm a lemon pepper guy but the Lemon and Herb was really good.
Food was so good there I decided to get more to go for back at the hotel.
I did the 3 shrimp tacos with mango and lime. I usually am cautious about mango flavors because artificial mango is terrible but these tacos tasted so good and fresh.
Fianlly Gyro over Rice I think I did Lemon and Herb for this too. Gyro was cooked so perfectly that it really didn't need the sauce. I love a good Gyro and I think the added sauce kinda took away from the natural flavor but overall it was really good. They give you plenty of food and meat.
5 stars across the board. Only wish I could regularly visit this spot to try more of the menu.
Prices are fair and responsible for the quality of food...
Read moreI have been looking for a good Halal steakhouse for a while. I tried Urban Steakhouse, out on Virginia back in 2021. However, the steak quality was simply ok. It was an on option for people who wanted a halal steak, however I beleive it has since gone out of business.
I tried La Vie down at the Wharf and in my opinion, the Ribeye is way overpriced at close to $80. Now I have no problem paying that much and have paid more at places like Ruth's Chris, Capital Steakhouse and Morton's but in my opinion La Vie steaks can't even compare to Outback or Longhorn.
I have to say the steak cooked here was just fantastic! Perfectly cooked to order and nice side items. The Ribeye was a very reasonable $39. Still doesn't compare to The high end places but definitely compares to if not exceeds the quality at Longhorn or Outback.
The only problem was the ambience and service. The wait staff really is ok and brings your food to you but doesn't really go beyond that and the place is clean enough but the bathrooms were terrible! Hope they make it a point to keep the restrooms clean!
So if you are looking for great tasting halal steaks, give this place a try but don't expect the ambience and stellar staff.
Final note, they have a lot on their menu other than steaks and the...
Read moreThey opened recently which is why I understand they were a bit delayed and forgetful with serving the food. I was confused if this was a server based or order at the counter type of restaurant. We sat down to look at the menu via QR code when we were greeted by one of the employees with the menus. They do not served alcoholic drinks fyi, since they serve halal food. The burger I had was delicious and the chicken that my sister had no flavor. We realized at the end that they had a flavor scale but, we did not know since it was not mentioned upon ordering. We also ordered the rib eye and from what I heard it was good, however a bit cold hence the delay in serving the food. We ordered three mocktails and one strawberry shake and one two of drinks arrived. I had to remind them about the other two and they quickly did them. The strawberry shake is not made out of real strawberries, they use the strawberry syrup, which is not my preference. The space is casual and you have pay at the counter. I see potential in this restaurant and hope to return soon with better improvements. One suggestion for the restaurant is to have number tables so, the servers can know where food/drinks goes. Our shake was taken to another table and then quickly was redirected to ours....
