I was looking forward to a relaxing evening with my partner after we had a great massage down the street.
We were seated next to a couple that was probably over served with alcohol or are just very loud and obnoxious regularly. I couldn't even hear my partner speaking to me at the table over their noise level. They had someone on speaker phone and were incredibly rude.
After 10 minutes of this, I mentioned it to my server. She didn't say or do anything about it. In general, she was clueless about many things so I'm not surprised at her lack of action.
So I politely leaned over and asked if they could lower the volume a bit since we were right next to them and couldn't have a conversation with each other.
That was a huge mistake. They launched into an insane personal attack and then the guy started to verbally attack my partner who hadn't even turned around once and was eating the whole time. Feels like they were looking for a fight.
Several staff came over and asked what happened. They kept saying "we're regulars" "this table is bothering us" and the staff just moved us to another seat. While the other table continued to holler and scream and laugh the entire time.
I will never visit an establishment that allows their customers to scream at other people, get in their face and behave in that way.
My partner has a very dysregulated nervous system and was suffering all night over the interaction. Please be considerate of others when you are in a public restaurant.
I'm surprised how useless the staff was in this situation. For that reason alone, I would never go back. Food was ok. We were both a bit nauseous all night but we didn't know if it was from the interaction or the food. Nothing special after living in DC and having access to much better Ethiopian food.
The server was barely around and not helpful but they automatically add 20% just fyi. And the prices on the menu don't match your bill.
Also be careful in this the neighborhood. We didn't realize that it's a super sketchy area near a strip club and this restaurant is also a hookah lounge after hours so it attracts a seedy crowd. I didn't feel safe at all while at the restaurant or leaving the restaurant after dinner. We saw them allow someone who was clearly already drunk or on drugs to the bar and served him.

Read moreI have been coming to Enjera for years for lunch and after work drinks as I work in a offfice nearby. The food is always great and the atmosphere is nice. However, service is every thing and for the last year it has declined at this place. Recently, I met friends for dinner. Our waitress was Lewam. I have had a few minor problems with her in the past. I never made it an issue though, I just thought she wasn't a friendly person. We place our order, the food comes. All is well. We finish our dinner and order drinks. We finish our drinks, Lewam brings us the bill. We had three people in our party, two of us had two cocktails each. One had a glass of wine. Five drinks but we had been charged for ten. When Lewam came back, I attempted to show her that she had doubled charged us. She didn't say a word, nodded her head and walked away. We thought she left to correct the mistake. A few minutes later she came back without a new bill and asked if we were ready to pay. I again attempted to show her the mistake she made but she walked away. I was irate at this point, the restaurant wasn't busy and our waitress wouldn't listen us. Another waitress was walking by, we asked her to speak to a owner or manger. She told us the owner wasn't there at the time. No owner, our waitress wouldn't admit to her mistake. I had no option but to pay the bill. I thought about disputing the charges on my card but it's not worth the hassle. This waitress stole money from me, I won't be returning again.
UPDATE I was in contact with the manager of this restaurant, Mr. Robi. I appreciate his quick response and effort to solve this problem. As I told Mr. Robi, refunding the money is only solving half the problem. He still has an employee who thinks it acceptable to treat customers poorly. I'm not sure Mr. Robi understands that. In speaking with Mr.Robi, he seemed to makes excuses or even defend the actions of this waitress. Many restaurants offer good food, customer service is what makes the difference. Until Mr. Robi can fix the customer service problem at his restaurant, I will be going...
Read moreThis restaurant has a vegan sampler. I usually get veggie combos so I thought it would be similar since veggie combo is already pretty much vegan. We didn’t realize it was going to be piles of mushrooms. Our bad, we were tired and hungry. It was well cooked but who would want to eat piles of just mushroom? We were starving and started eating, realized we didn’t enjoy the food. My friend couldn’t have mushrooms. They should call the vegan sampler the mushroom lover or something else instead.
Anyways my friend can’t eat mushrooms and he lets the server know. She sends us two sides and we are assuming here these are complementary to accommodate us. The veggie platter stuff is so delicious so we are feeling pretty bad.
We tell the server about how we weren’t happy with our food. There’s another group of people sitting near us that is about to get the vegan sampler. Because of our complaint, they actually take the time to explain to the other table the vegan sampler and advise them to get the veggie combo instead (we didn’t get this courtesy).
We are expecting a 45~ bill. She is charging us $80. Charged us for the sides. We are explaining our poor experience and how the menu is misguiding. My friend talked to the server and finally she agreed to take off the veggie sides that should have been complimentary. We still pay 60 due to some other things they added on without telling us the cost.
We basically were getting charged $80 for a pile of mushrooms. I left this restaurant feeling like I was robbed. Abhorrent customer service. All the while we helped them improve their experience for other customers. It’s a shame, the veggie platter sides they brought us were delicious. The bad customer service ended up leaving a bad taste in our mouths (along with the $40 dollar pile...
