oMg, the quality of the meats and their cuts, and the savory dishes made with them is amazing here. The portions of some dishes might be a teeny bit smaller or slightly more costly than some other local Indian restaurants, but so far it's offset by the tastiness and exceptional presentation and craft Taj puts into each dish.
An exception in portion per cost are the biryanis which are very generous in size AND in portion of meat. And their meat is Halal. I believe this includes their goat.
The vegetarian (and 6 vegan) dishes are multiple, varied and also outstanding. Even the soups, apps/sides and sauces, mango and cilantro chutneys and raita are fantastic and FRESH!
My only disappointment was the bread which could have been made thicker or make up for what it lacked in baking with its taste... (Update: the bread is now fresh and fabulous!!)
Ordering online is easy thru Google Maps and elsewhere for both delivery and takeout. And they package everything with care and detailed attention. They also do catering, and have varied desserts!
There's plenty of parking on the lower side of the building. The decor inside is modern yet also soothing, elegant and spacious. Although there is a lovely long bar, I didn't check to see if it is serving drinks currently, or even at all in-house.
My last kudo is to the gentleman who greeted fully masked and appropriately distanced (during Covid) and spoke with me so graciously. I wish I had asked his name so I could give him a shout out!
I'm so glad to have found this place when I want assurance of a quality meal, conveniently located on Route 1 South just off the Beltway. Thank you Taj of India for a...
Read moreWorst experience of my life I went to have dinner on 27th may 2023 night with family and friends. We ordered our items and few folks asked for spice level as mild and some asked for spicy. We asked him to make sure and not mix it up. When the food was served, we were disappointed with the portion size, however, we ignored it and decided to enjoy the food but to our disappointment we couldn’t do that as well. It was very spicy and no one came by to check on with us for that. We ate as much we could and asked for check. The manager had added 20% gratuity by default and when we asked what was it added for, he said it gets added by default and when we insisted to have it removed, he unwillingly removed it. We didn’t pay any tip as we all were very disappointed with the food quantity, taste and service. As we were leaving, the manager called us out and started shouting at the restaurant gate that we all desi don’t pay any tip and his staff works so hard and don’t get paid. He didn’t even ask the reason from us and when we tried to explain, he didn’t listen and just kept on shouting at all of us. We said, we were not satisfied with the food or service and will not come again. He said yeah don’t come come again and continued shouting. Gratuity and tip are optional things which we pay out of respect after being happy with their service and food. There are times when we don’t like the food but still pay tip as the attendant had served us well. But in this restaurant, nothing was good and still we were forced for 20% gratuity which is insane and rip off.
I would suggest not to go to...
Read moreBest Indian food in area! Garlic Naan, Lamb Korma and Kadai Lamb was ordered for our table. Most impressive was the overall climate in the restaurant. Clean, high quality table settings. Staff was very polite and responsive. Music was loud enough to be heard but not over powering. Owner stop by the table to make sure everything was ok and provided information on dishes ordered and recommendations for future orders based on what types of food our table likes. Although there were four other tables being attended too, we felt as of we were the only ones dinning. Lamb Korma was tender and flavorful, the spices were throughout the dish. Kadai Lamb, absolutely the favorite of the table. Bell peppers tasted as if they had just got pulled from a garden and the onions were not over powering and sweet enough to balance out the spices in the sauce. The entire dish had everyone commenting on how it tasted as if it was slow cooked in a cast iron pot over open flames - meaning it tasted amazing! Drinks were ordered and there were no complaints. Prices were low and quality and quantity were high. I will return to Take Of India and be bringing different associates,...
