The Bagel & I — Restaurant in Virginia

A newer breakfast spot that we went to while visiting from out of town. We went because they offered Gluten Free bagels for me and I'm gluten free so I was excited to try. We called ahead to see if they had available and reserved a few for when we came in. The GF bagels (they have regular and Everything) are on the same shelf as the regular bagels as a heads up!

I let the cashier know I was gluten free and asked for a clean knife for the cream cheese that hadn't touched the regular bagels, and the gal behind the counter making and prepping asked me a few additional questions which gave me some ease. She did a glove change, put down paper and got cream cheese with a clean knife and cut with a clean knife. Only downside is there's no separate toaster for GF bagels, it would have been on the same toaster as regular, so that would be my only suggestion is if you're offering GF bagels, to have a dedicated GF toaster 😊 The blueberry cream cheese was so good, definitely recommend!

My brother brought me in there when you first open at the lake! I ordered the cheddar bagel and it was amazing! I continued coming for a while and then I noticed somewhere in November I came in and got a bagel and right away I noticed the change in flour and taste! So with that being said I hadn’t been there since. (Because it wasn’t like wow this is great!) Today I decided to go and try again and not only is the flour different but you can tell the bagel only has one slice of cheddar cheese melted on it and before it was smothered with cheddar!!! I understand that things are going up but changes that you have made are only going to hurt you! Unfortunately I won’t be coming back because it is so dry I can’t eat it and I can’t even taste the cheese!!! Not try to be ugly but truthful! Hopefully you can make the changes back to save your sales!!...

I went when they first opened at the lake and everything seemed great. Food was good, service was good, etc. My wife goes in today with my kids, and the service she received was unacceptable. Rude! No clarification on orders, didn't offer to cut the bagels in half, didn't ask if they wanted knives, eye rolled them when they asked questions... They didn't know the bag on the counter was theirs so the lady at the counter picks up the bag and shakes it like they were dogs or something... The bagels weren't warmed.

I am extremely disappointed on a number of different levels. This person's behavior seems to be in direct conflict with what the company was founded on. Additionally you just don't treat customers that way. Everyone has a bad day sometimes, but unfortunately all it takes is one time to...
