UPDATE: 9.25.21
Went back to Uncle C's chicken.
Service is better. The cashiers very friendly and courteous. The drink area still messy and needed some organization.
The chicken sandwiches are on point. They are the best chicken sandwiches on RT 1.
Chicken waffles same as before. The waffle amazing but the size of the chicken pieces giving on 3 piece 1 waffle for 9.99 is very small. I would of loved to get at leas 1 piece that had enough meat to be able to enjoy chicken and waffles.
The granny rice very spicy not good at all.
Banana pudding was very hood. But on the small size.
Over all i give it a 3.5 stars.
I am giving the place a 2 stars. I ordered chicken grille sandwich a nashville sandwich a 3 piece chicken and waffles and a chicken salad.
Grilled chicken sandwich tasted salty like a cisco food frozen chicken patty. I was so hoping that it would be fresh chicken. The bread was excellent. But that was the only item in this meal that was good.
Nashville chicken sandwich was on par. Excellent flavor cooked just right, the coleslaw with pickles was nice. A hint of spicy hot taste was also nice combination. The fries were good and the amount just right for a 10.00 combo. I definitely will go back for this sandwich.
Grilled Chicken salad needed a lot of help. It seemed like it was an after thought of the menu. There just to have it. The grilled chicken was salty and most likely a cisco foods frozen patty. Big disappointment for me since i figured a chicken place would have fresh chicken on their chicken salad. The dressing again nothing well though out came in little pouches like what u get at 7 eleven salads.
3 piece chicken and waffles. The restaurant main dish was so so. The chicken was on the burnt side but not fully cooked inside. The waffle was amazing. With the pieces of chicken that was cooked and not burnt the combination of waffle chicken and syrup was amazing. I will definitely go back for another try of this dish and hope it made correctly.
The drinks. Lemonade and half and half. Snapple drinks are better.. they were so sweet and tasted like it came from concentrate. I was hoping it was homemade but no.
Fries they were good. I would go back for their fries.
The order taker was courteous and took my order with a smile and explained the dishes i ordered.
The person handing the food on the other hand was horrible. Typical Rt1 customer service skills. I was hoping that this new restaurant would set the standards on customer service but it fell short today.
I will go back again because the staff is new and the manager was working hard to make the place better. Overall i expected a place with more home made food than just another fast food place on Rt 1. I gave it 2 stars because of the service, grilled chicken salad frozen food and the error on the main dish of the restaurant. I hope to change my rating afte i go back again. I will upload pics on...
Read morePass by this restaurant every day going to and back from work and decided to give it a try. This review is being submitted after having gone twice trying different items. So first I will say that the selling factor - the chicken, is definitely the best item here. The seasoning is perfect and the chicken isn't dry. Moving onto other items, I'd definitely say the candied yams, cornbread and banana pudding were tasty as well, just a bit short of perfect but very close. The waffles in my opinion are average but perhaps that is due to how long it took them to hand me the food, more on that later. The fries are very ordinary, they might be handcut or whatnot but with how bland and uncrispy they are, they sort of just undercut the quality of the rest of the food a lot.
Now onto the service, my first time coming, I was just stopping in to get the simplest thing, just an order of chicken and waffles with a side of fries. When I had arrived, it wasn't that busy, just 2 people ordering ahead of me with small orders from what I saw. I waited for 23 minutes for my order, in which time I had seen 5 other guests order after me and gotten their food - some with a ton of food before me. I do not know if it had something to do with me getting waffles in the afternoon but that was beyond ridiculous. Once I had gotten the food, I got in my car to do a freshness test and tried all of the stuff in my bag. The chicken was the freshest thing served to me, the waffles and fries had gotten soggy. Second time around, when I got more items, I got a similar situation. Fries were the same, chicken was great. Cornbread wasn't lukewarm like first time, got hot ones this time. When all is said and done, I would recommend Uncle C's with the caveat that it is very slow for fried chicken. Also would say that the chicken is heaps better than mainstream fried chicken joints and might even say it's better bang for your buck. Overall, I'd say this opace gets a...
Read moreI recently visited Uncle C's Chicken & Waffles and was blown away by the experience. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of perfectly cooked chicken and freshly made waffles welcomes you, setting the tone for what's to come.
Food: The stars of the show here are undoubtedly the chicken and waffles. The chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned just right - not too salty, not too bland. It's clear they take pride in their cooking technique because every piece is evenly cooked to perfection. The waffles are light, fluffy, and have that ideal balance of sweetness to complement the savory chicken. They offer a variety of combos which cater to different tastes, but you can't go wrong with any choice. The sides, like their mac and cheese or collard greens, are also homemade and add to the meal's overall quality.
Prices: One of the best parts? It's all reasonably priced. You get a generous portion for what feels like a steal, especially considering the quality and flavor you're getting. It's the kind of place where you leave feeling satisfied without breaking the bank.
Staff: The staff at Uncle C's are the friendly, down-to-earth kind that make you feel like family. They're quick to greet you with a smile, offer recommendations if you're unsure, and ensure your dining experience is top-notch. Their service is attentive without being overbearing, making for a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
Overall: Uncle C's Chicken & Waffles is a gem for anyone looking for great food in a welcoming environment. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place deserves a visit. The combination of great food, perfectly cooked at very reasonable prices, and friendly staff makes it a must-try. I can't wait to go back for more of their delicious offerings. Highly...
