Worst Deli Cafe — Restaurant in Virginia

Subs are pretty good, especially the steak & cheese. Best thing on the menu hands down! Their breakfast is mid IMO but I’m really simple for my breakfast options as I don’t like eggs & don’t eat pork. I don’t really care for their breakfast potatoes. They usually taste old & not freshly made to me. Meaning they probably made them the day or even days before. I thought maybe this was a fluke but it’s been every time I’ve had them. Their french toast is just ok, but could def use some work. Not a lot of flavor. Their customer service used to be on point, but lately I’d say it hasn’t been up to par. They normally don’t offer delivery during peak lunch hours 11am-1pm. Today I called at 10am & was put on hold for over 10 mins. I hung up, called back and the line kept ringing busy. I tried 5x’s. When the lady finally answered I was told they aren’t doing delivery right now because they are busy. It was 10:20am at that point. I get being busy but the fact that you state upfront on your recording that you don’t deliver during a specific time and then change that on the fly is bad business. The person that answered the phone wasn’t even nice about it. I’d rather order from a mom & pop restaurant any day, but the food and customer service is what keeps you wanting to come back to support local business. And I mean the food ain’t half bad here but not good enough to be jumping through hoops to get it. Would I stop eating here… No… but will it be my 1st option for a quick lunch…...

Got Food Poisoning from here on January 26, 2023. We've ordered from here one previous time, but after darn near killing me a few days ago we will not order from here again. I had the beef Bulgogi sub. Tasted fine going down but horrible coming back up. Was either on the toilet or hugging the toilet from 2:30 PM (1 hour after eating) until 4:30 AM the next day. It was the only thing I had eaten that day as I don't typically eat breakfast. The first time we ordered from there the sandwiches and fries were just ok but cold both times, nothing to shout about, but nothing to stop us from going back either. Usually we give 3 strikes before banning a restaurant, but I think attempted murder automatically adds an additional strike or two. On the upside the staff seemed nice both times we got food from there. Honestly, buyer beware. My wife dodged the bullet but she had a completely different meal and different container. I'm all about supporting local businesses, especially restaurants for this area, but this one won't be getting my support anymore. They truly lived up to their name of "The...

I only give 5 stars to truly exceptional places and nearly caved on this rule for this hole in the wall. The ONLY reason they are not getting 5 stars is because they ONLY offer steak fries. I cannot stand steak fries.

The place itself is very no nonsense. Table and chairs with a counter to order and you see them make it right there in front of you. The menu dominates the eyeline with a cooler full of standard sodas and juices. Everything screams we take food seriously because they don’t have time to make the place look good.

And the food is top notch. I have been here a few times and every time the food is very well prepared. For $10 you can get a piled high ham sandwich and a soda. The sandwich itself is as standard as you can get but you only need to wait less than three minutes for lunch. The hot subs are fantastic as the Teriyaki Steak and Cheese is another favorite of mine. Next time I’m there I want to check out their rice bowls.
