I was really excited to try SHU Brunch since it’s new in town, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish.
I ordered the Classic Breakfast, asking for my eggs over hard and extra well done. The food took a long time to arrive. While I understand that quality takes time, the wait set an expectation that the meal would be hot and freshly made. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. My pancakes were cold, my eggs came out runny (twice), and the bacon was overcooked and inedible. I ended up just eating the potatoes.
My sister ordered the chilaquiles, which she was really looking forward to because they’re stuffed with cheese. Instead, they came topped with a large piece of shredded meat that was all fat and too tough to chew. She actually had to spit it out. The chilaquiles themselves were soggy, as if they had been sitting for a while.
I informed the server about the eggs, and she did bring another plate, but unfortunately, the eggs still weren’t cooked right. On top of that, it took a very long time to get the bill. They gave me a $4 discount, but it honestly didn’t feel like enough for how poor the experience was.
The only highlight was a waffle we ordered at the end for my mom. That one was actually good. But overall, this was not the kind of experience I expected from a new brunch spot. I’m hoping they can work out the kinks because the menu sounds promising, but right now, it’s not...
Read moreThis place had horrible customer service. I am from LA, however i had some errands to run in Visalia so I thought this spot looked really good and decided to stop by. When checking in, the waiter checking people in, never greeted me but keep in mind she was greeting everyone else who was walking into this restaurant, no big deal. However she told us the wait would be 20 minutes max and we ended up waiting about 1 hour. If we didn’t remind them about us waiting for a table they would have never sat us down! Everyone ahead of us was sat down quickly and was greeted with much gratitude. Another thing to keep in mind is that they had plenty of seats open for a party of 2 yet they kept pushing us off, another 2 couples that got there AFTER us (also both a party of 2) got seated before us! (and no they didn’t have a reservation, i physically heard them put their name down at the front) Makes me think the worst because that couple was White and we were Mexican. To each their own but i felt really really uncomfortable eating there. There was many other in between situations that made my partner and I feel very unwelcomed there. I think making others feel this way because of their skin color is so sad! This place was beautiful and i really hoped to give it a great review, but they truly...
Read moreFood is meh, (potatoes were the best part). The service is subpar (not necessarily the wait staff), just how long everything takes. We had a reservation for 10:15 because that was the earliest listed, and we got there at 10. The host said we had to wait until 10:15, even though there were plenty of empty tables. It kinda seemed like they purposely were trying to make it look busy, and lots of people were waiting as hype. We were seated around 10:20. We ordered coffee, which promptly arrived, and we ordered food fairly quickly, too. We did not receive our food until 10:50ish. I asked our server about the type of coffee, and she replied, "I remember the label, but forgot, I'll get back to you." She never got back, but that wasn't really even a big deal. My brother asked her to bring his drink out with the food, but it came out with the coffee. This place is mainly vibes, it looks modern and shiek inside, temperature is nice, its fairly loud with tvs, music and diner chatter but great for those wanted to go out with friends and just chat. If you want a meal and go, this place is not for you. For 3 people, the cost to eat was about $75 without tips or alcholic drinks....
