Honestly I feel skewed because this food hit differently and I was expecting to just get mediocre food. I usually dpnt even look at this place everytime we drive by especially because we are big albertacos fans. We ordered a Carne asada nachos, rolled tacos, bean and cheese, and horchata. First off the chips were huge especially for the price, and the box wasn't the shystie ones with the compartments in it so you get less, that's always annoyed me! Honestly the chips could feed 3 people easily. The Carne Asada itself was pretty standard, well seasoned, and were loaded with guac, crema, and cheese, we always add pico to ours. I was pleasantly surprised. The rolled tacos were standard San Diego, filled with beef and topped with guac and cheese not bad. I know it's just a bean and cheese but you can really get a good idea of a how a restaurant by this burrito. The beans were cooked thoroughly no hard bits and were flavored well, definitely not just that side dish that on their prep list that's a burden. Horchata was good as well I hate when it's just full of sugar. Salsa have a good kick I love the roast smokiness of their red salsa and the nice acidity in the green. Definitely will hit this place up again if we are...
Read moreEribertos was my go to 24 hours Mexican hole in the wall because of its convenience on my way to work. This is the oldest of the Eribertos Mexican Food chain locations.
I ordered their carne asada fries (have probably eaten this hundreds of times at this location, i used to order everyday before the pandemic). The price has been going up, but the amount of food (reduced compared to before) is now the same amount as order 24 hour Mexican food joints. The carne asada fries used to fill the packaging container and when I ate the fries in one sitting I would be full beyond my limits. That is not the case this time. Now the carne asada fries here is just like any other Mexican food joint but more expensive relative to other places ($16 for carne asada fries). If the price is increased but food is decreased at the same time, I don't see the justification for coming here for carne asada fries any longer. I could simply compare prices and select the lowest priced carne asada fries since food portions are basically the same. Not good for this location.
Specifically, I prefer the Civic Center Eribertos location for the abundant food and cooking style...
Read moreWow, I have to sadly admit, I think this was the worst carne asada burrito I have ever had. The meat was flavorless (not seasoned, marinated, nor any discernible spice), the pico or salsa fresca or whatever you would call it was apparently stewed (or simmered) with no real taste and when added, made for a soupy burrito. Tasted more like beef boiled in water. Lastly, throw in the fact that the burrito alone was $12.50. Don’t get me wrong, I would gladly pay that amount for a solid and tasty CAB, but this was just plain bad. Didn’t even finish it and cannot give it to my dogs as onion is toxic to dogs. The only reason that they get even one star is that they did not ruin the Dr. Pepper. To the ownership from a fellow business owner, one shred piece of advice, you really need to put some love and attention back into your business and food. Sorry, but I will not be...
