Mariscos El Pacifico — Restaurant in Vista

We were having a late lunch around 1pm. We ordered off the lunch menu, actually there was no menu, but the very nice waitress told us the items as we did not have the QR scanned on our phones. Anyway husband ordered the fish tacos with R&B. I ordered the Flautes with shredded beef came with R&B. The waitress did say the flautes were more like mini chimichangas. The fish tacos were terrible, as if the fish had been deep fried in a fryer that the oil was not hot enough, biting into the fish, the meat was gray and oil came dripping out, the tortillas were cold, beans were cold the rice was mediocre as well just mildly warm. My flautes, sort of like, but not really flautes) were small heavy bombs of overly cooked flour tortillas stuffed with flavorless shredded beef, also cold rice and beans. The lunch was disappointing. The salsa was good and so were the chips but that was all that was good about the lunch. The outside tables were dirty. Maybe if you were to go back for dinner on a good night ( when the restaurant was crowded) there would be someone in the kitchen who would know how to serve and prepare tasty food that is cooked properly and served hot. I think the plates were melamine, no paper placemats...

Leaving negative reviews are not normally my thing, sometimes people just have a bad day but after going online to find their phone number so I could find out how much my beer cost because my waitress wouldn't bring me my bill after asking for it 3 times...I saw the other reviews and realized this wasn't a bad day, just bad management which leads to terrible service! I was enjoying my rare Friday off walking my dog and popped in for a cerveza and a water. It took 12 minutes for someone to come out to me to take my order, which I told her she could cash me out because I only wanted the beer and a water. 15 minutes later my beer and water arrive and I ask her to cash me out, she nods and walks away. Another 15 minutes later, nearing the end of my beer, she finally comes back onto the patio and I again ask for her to bring me the bill. After 5 more minutes and an empty beer I CALL THE RESTAURANT I ask them how much they charge for the beer I ordered and leave cash on the table to cover it and leave. Seriously, what the actual?! I have been here twice, both times on a Friday night with co-workers. The first visit was around 9:10 PM, close to closing time. It was pretty packed and extremely loud. If they could lower the volume just a bit, it would be more enjoyable. Most of the people singing Karaoke were really good, which made it fun to watch others participate.

The first time, I got a burrito, which was great, but I ended up with a stomach ache later. I came back a second time, and it was also a fun experience. I ordered food again, and everything was good. However, both my co-worker and I experienced stomach aches afterward. I think I’ll try the seafood next time since beef hasn’t agreed with me here.

Overall, it’s a fun spot to visit with friends for a short time to enjoy drinks and Karaoke, especially if you like Spanish music. I will come back, and maybe try the seafood this time, and stay away...
