Visited here as it was highly recommended. Was looking for a semi-upscale Italian restaurant to take my girlfriend on a nice date. Approximate costs with food+tip was ~$70 for two people.
So here's what I liked: The food was pretty good, not knock me out of my socks good, but I enjoyed everything that I had. The servers were very friendly, they made an effort to be personable, but not linger too long. Service was definitely the highest point for us. BYO was awesome, no corking fee to my knowledge, so it cut down on costs. Supporting a small restaurant.
Here's what I didn't like: Interior is dated, it felt like it was last done in the 90s. It definitely needs a cozier and more modern feel to it. Not a huge sense of privacy. Despite only 4 tables being in our room, it felt like we could hear every conversation as opposed to a big place like Olive Garden. This is because it's a converted rancher, so the rooms are rather small and intimate. Lastly I felt that the price to quality was a bit off of the mark. I know $35 a person isn't high-end, but I felt overall that the food was a little bit pricier than it should have been.
What we ordered: I had the special of eggplant parm and a salad with their house balsamic dressing. The salad was light and tastefully done, just enough to get a small taste but not spoil my appetite. The eggplant parm was plentiful and filling, decently tasty. It also came with a homemade gnocchi which I enjoyed
My girlfriend got the chicken parm which was a tad thin for what we paid, but tasty. She got a noodle soup that was tasty. The noddles tasted homemade, very eggy and thick but I liked that. The spaghetti that came with her chicken parm looked from a box though.
Overall experience was nice. I don't regret coming here. I wouldn't come back, but I think it's...
Read moreTonight was our first time back here in a while, and I can honestly say it was just as good of not better than I remember. The quality of food that they put out every time we've visited is impeccable.
Bread was on the table with roasted garlic oil....perfection. Appetizer was calamari, delicious and perfectly prepared with their home made sauce. It's a very hard decision each time I go to pick between their ceasar salad or the scrapielle soup. The ceasar has homemade dressing that I would literally drink if I could. The soup is homemade crepes cut really thin in a chicken/parmesan broth. I went with the soup, husband had the ceasar. So. Soo. Soooooo good. For us, the actual meal is a no brainer. I almost always go with the lobster and shrimp fettuccine. The seafood is always perfectly cooked, and the homemade pasta is cooked al dente and is life changing. I try to eat the seafood and take some pasta home to savor later (just as good cold from the fridge). Husband always orders the "special" eggplant parmesan, which is super thin cut and more of a beer batter than a breadcrumb. I've tried to replicate it at home and just cant, I dont know what their secret is. The eggplant is served with homemade gnocchi which husband takes home (also good cold, right from the fridge). By the time we are finished there is no room for dessert, but we will indulge in double espressos which top everything off. I hope this place never dies, a true Italian meal that hits...
Read moreGreat food I have to say, have been going for years. A few days ago on my birthday , I called to make a reservation for 2. As soon as I started speaking the hostess immediately changed her tone of voice. Now I grew up in the city and I sound Fairly "urban" and I am a minority, so I politely ask if there are any available tables around 8pm, she responded "nope all booked up". Now being a server myself at plenty of nice restaurants years ago I have never told anyone that we are u able to take them period. I may have told them we had a 45min wait and so on but never that they can't take me period. So I continue " is there any other times I could make a reservation for?" She responded "nope, all booked up". I say " for the whole night??" She say s "yup" . And we hang up. Something didn't feel right so I call my girlfriend who is a well spoken Caucasian girl , and ask her to call. She gets the same girl, girl is ten xs more polite than she was to me and quickly without hesitation gives her a reservation for 2 at the time I had asked . She 100%! Thought that she was talking to an African American man and decided to tell me not to come in. I decide to go anyway, there was no wait. Maybe 5 min. I hear same girl taking reservations over the phone "party for 6? Yes that's fine", party of four ? Sure what time" I was discriminated against because they thought I was a minority. Not one black or Hispanic person in the place. I've never been so...
