I’ve been a regular client at Onyx Nail Bar for the past few months, consistently booking with TT. While I initially appreciated her work, my recent experiences have been very disappointing. Over the last few appointments, my gel manicures have chipped significantly in less than a week — a clear indication of quality issues.
Most recently, I returned today to have a nail repaired that chipped shortly after my appointment on April 12th. I had just returned from a birthday vacation and was surprised to be told I had to pay $15 to fix a single nail or opt for a brand new gel manicure. Given that this is the second time I’ve had to return for corrections within a week of service, I find this policy unreasonable.
What’s most upsetting is the lack of care or accountability from the manager when I explained the situation. While I liked TT, I value good customer service just as much as quality work. If a business is willing to lose a loyal, consistent customer over a simple repair, then I can no longer support it. I’m truly disappointed with how this was handled.
Edit: With your condescending response that you replied here was the same energy you provided in person is just the reason why I provided you with one star review and mentioned YOUR lack of service and how I enjoyed TT but advised of an QUALITY concern for YOU to address. NOT for YOU to tell me to get a new gel manicure less than a week of receiving being serviced by TT or for YOU TO TELL ME to start getting acrylic or dip powder which are services I DON’T want and should not have to get if the QUALITY is there with your gel polish. You completely missed the point it’s clear you don’t know how to take ownership in your business or even have a clear mission or value to uphold in your establishment because if you did you would of never allowed me to leave with that lasting feeling of your business! I always have good vibes babe and yes the new business I locate will ensure stand on business and provide QUALITY and SERVICE and will not be so concerned with $15 good day to you be blessed! Allow this to be a teachable moment for you to reflect on and create a more pleasurable experiences for your patrons that pay well above market price for the services they receive the first time!...

In December 2022 my Fresha appointments were cancelled without explanation. I rescheduled and it happened again. I called to inquire about it and was informed that my preferred nail tech was cutting back their schedule. I booked with another tech using Fresha. Again my appointment was canceled. I was told the Fresha appointment platform had experienced technical difficulties. So I made an appointment using my daughter’s Fresha account. Appointments no longer canceled. After my appointment I could no longer make appointments under my daughter’s account. I used my sister’s Fresha account successfully. After appointment, I experienced the same issue. Fresha reached out to me and said there wasn’t a problem on their end.
Linda is correct. We spoke about most of the issues noted here. I was advised to call to make appointments for services no more than three days in advance. Or I could get on a waitlist list but for services no more than 3 days in advance.
Each time I called I was told there wasn’t availability. The other alternative was to make my next appointment in person or when my service was completed but could not book more than 3 days out. Well, I wouldn’t need manicure for at least another 10 days. 🤷🏽♀️ Unfortunately my business travel schedule could not accommodate this arrangement.
I wanted to share my experience because I patronized this establishment bi-weekly for almost 2 years. That is a lot of money in my opinion. As a consumer I was disappointed and felt undervalued as a regular customer.
I am happy I can share my experiences so others can make up their own mind. I used to recommend this establishment regularly. Through my own experience I can no longer recommend. Wish the nail techs...
Read moreWhen I first got my nails done I thought they were perfect the French tip was so skillfully done, the shape was exactly what I wanted, the nail tech was kind, polite and receptive to all of the tweaks I wanted done. It was one of the best appointments I’ve had and I booked my refill 4weeks in advance. But then I wake the NEXT day with a lifted nail, I let Linda know & she says they’ll fix it. I wait a few days before I go in for the fix bc my nail is sore from the filling and drilling it took to get the nail done. Within that few days of waiting for the soreness to subside, two nails have chipped/broke off after only 1week. Mind you I have NEVER in my life had an acrylic nail break/chip as I’m not rough on my nails. Fast forward to a few days after going in for the fix, I now have five broken nails and seven nails lifting at the nail bed. For them being acrylic nails they should last more than 1.5 weeks. I don’t have bottomless pockets and endless free time to go here and get nails done then get them fixed multiple times bc they’re breaking off and lifting only a couple off days after getting them done. I’d also like add that when I went in to get the lifted nail fixed I got a different nail tech than the 1st time & that nail tech made the nail crooked, longer than the other nails, and painted a messy French tip line that doesn’t go all the way down to the edges of the nail. & she left under the nail all messy and with clumped up nail glue didn’t clean it up with the nail drill. And they refused to fix another nail that had broke even though it had only been a week since I’d had them done. I ended canceling my refill appointment because I have so many broken nails (that would cost me extra to fix during a refill) a refill would cost more than a fresh set. The first nail tech did a perfect French I just wish they held up better. Shouldn’t need to have acrylic almost completely redone before...
