I love the food without a doubt. However the service was not as I expected. Definitely short staffed! The entire time i was there, only service i received was server coming and taking the order and bringing the food. Never once were we asked if everything was okay, if we need anything else and etc. there were 4 table reserved with customers and only 1 server. I believe there was this other person who is the owner. After we were done with our appetizer server did not come clean out our table untill 20 mins later, even then she only took half the dirty dishes forgot the rest, went on about clearing other tables that had no customer, or started taking order for other customers. I ordered 1 beef fried rice (with medium spice) and 1 shrimp mount masala rice. Both had sameee level of spice which was very spicy. I requested for a diet coke which the server completely forgot about and had to ask for it again. I keep had to grab her attention to get various thing like another utensil, plate/bowl, napkins, drink....as i said before she never came to check on us in between. Toward the end i walk up to the main desk looking for some toothpick.....who i believe to be the owner (or not) busy talking on the phone (not with a customer, i could tell it was personal call), so naturally i waited for her to finish. After the call, She didnt even simply ask what i needed or was looking for. She got off the phone and started talking to the server about something else. I had to grab her attention to get some toothpick. Oh also server obviously had no smile as serving as she seemed miserable or frustrated with her job, she was too busy cleaning out some other empty table but didnt have time to ask about how is everything with our food and etc.
And since the owner responded to me. My dad went up to get 4 straws because we had 2 lassi and 3 soft drinks. And we werent about to sip the drink right out of the can or the glass provided. And i wanted to try how the other lassi tasted like. Trying to grab your attention for several times, my dad ended up going up n get some straw himself. If the foood was gonna have same spice level, the server shouldve just mentioned that. I didnt care about who you were talking to on the phone, i waited for you to finish. Its the fact, you didnt ask me what i needed, as soon as you got off the phone- that would have been great customer service. But no, instead you started talking to your co worker. Again at that point i had to grab ya’ll attention. As you are giving me the toothpick, you were still pretty busy talking to your co worker. You almost didn’t acknowledge i was standing there for some time!!! I rather give review here, so others know about my experience . You should have known better how to provide service or communicate better. You own a...
Read more"Finally a local restaurant that can really deliver spicy food" is right and it made me super happy!!! Mount Masala is Himalayan Cuisine Indian Style. Best I could describe it is an Indian-Chinese-Nepalese fusion. While many of the dishes come spicy, you can ask them to make it mild for you, or in my case, EXTRA spicy! Pictured:
Beef Mount Masala Chowmein (extra spicy) - crunchy veggies, tender beef, deceivingly spicy as 3/4 through the dish is when I started to get a really good mouth burn!
Chicken Spicy Sour Soup (extra spicy) - somewhat similar to chinese hot and sour soup but a richer broth than I am used to and not filled with mushrooms. The chicken shredded on bite as well. Great flavor!
Paneer Tikka Masala Fusion (extra spicy) - simply delicious Paneer in a rich and bold masala. Classic rich and bold Indian styled dish. Brought the flavor and spice!
Fried Paneer Wonton - flaky, crunchy and cheesey wontons accompanied by a sweet and spicy tangy dipping sauce. The fusion really comes to play with this dish!
Vegetable Samosa - maybe the best samosa's ever! Crunchy exterior with flaky interior. Loved the seasonings and potato filling. Also accompanied by the same delicious dipping sauce as the fried wontons!
I already cant wait to go back as I need to try the "handsome chicken lollipop" and the "vegetable momo sizzling" among other dishes. Friendly, helpful service to help you navigate the menu and figure out what you'd like. Oh, did I mention...
Read moreThis was the first time my friend and I visited Mount Masala. The cuisine is a cross between Chinese and Indian, since Napal is situated halfway between the two countries in the Himalayas. Most of the dishes can be tailored to your spice level preference, EXCEPT dishes that have Mount Masala sauce or dry spice. We shared a sizzling hot appetizer, Chicken Momo, followed by soup (Chicken Manchu Soup & Shrimp Manchu Soup. Our entrées we’re Himalayan Chicken Curry & Goat Bro-Gobi, each with a bowl of white long-grained steamed rice.
Even though this is a cross between two very different, but popular cuisines, the flavors are unexpected and very pleasant. The spice levels were exactly what we specified, the food was steaming/sizzling hot as expected, and we were delighted at how good the food tasted.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. She explained how the spice level works, the types of gravies, and how each of the dishes is prepared. This made it very easy to determine what we should try. There is such an extensive menu, that you will have fun in determining what to try. It’s helpful to select an appetizer and/or soup 1st, then have your server return later for your entree order.
Please enjoy your trip to the flavorful Mount Masala located in...
