The ONLY great thing about this place is the customers that keep that business open. AND NO, the owners don’t actually care about them, just their money. After working for this establishment I have seen and heard some of the most disgusting behaviors in the service industry. The beloved and highly honored Castillos, Richard, Bubba, and Mary Lou are cheap, selfish, and racist. They only care about themselves and making money. Mary Lou is sour. She’s lonely and miserable with her life and she takes it out on everyone else. She makes working there a complete nightmare. She yells at her staff, she yells at customers and belittles them. She forces them to pay for items they didn’t order. She steals tips to pay for “discounted/free” food. She’s so cheap, she’ll water down gallon margaritas. 1/2 water 1/2 margarita. The kitchen is completely infested with roaches. They are hiding under everything. Tea Urns, Soda Machine, Printers, Computers. They are even hiding within the walls by booths near the kitchen and crawl out at random times. They use bleach on everything. Even cups customers drink right out of. It’s their sanitizer. Bleach is not food safe. It’s insane to me how they have stayed open, but routine and loyalty is an insane thing. The customers are incredible humans as I have met some of the best people working there. But this business and restaurant have a completely different motive than actually bringing in a family...
Read moreWould rate 4 out of 5. Definitely better Mexican/Tex Mex out there but Perhaps this may be the best Waco can do. Only give it 4 stars because the staff really came through on the service. The food was probably 3/5 at best. They were honest on what to order and what not to order - this was much appreciated.
They run happy hour specials and we ended up at the right time to take advantage of the $2.5 small margaritas - they were good.
Complimentary chips and salsa can be skipped unless you order the verde sauce or queso. The red ranchero lacks a bit of flavor and seasoning. Queso is good, we were skeptical at first but it was good.
Had the Antonio plate and it came with a chalupa, hard taco, soft taco and enchiladas. I substituted chicken fajita in the hard shell taco and shredded chicken in the enchiladas and asked for the verde sauce vs the sour cream based it comes with (probably the best decision). The tostada and hard shell taco is served first then comes the soft taco and enchiladas. A lot of food for an average person - I skipped the beans and rice and still wasn’t able to finish the whole meal.
We also got the chicken fajita enchiladas with verde sauce with beans and rice and this was good as well. Chicken isn’t dry but is juicy thus tasted great. Rice and beans were good too,...
