We had a really fun experience at Carol's café, we had never been there before, but we felt very welcomed. The owner was running the counter and she was very lively and personable. They have a simple menu, there didn't seem to be many specialties, but everything there seemed well cooked, I got an egg sandwich with kielbasa and a fruit cup with some bacon and my girlfriend got a western omelette and we shared a cinnamon french toast. I will say every bite of the egg sandwich was different because the kielbasa is cut in big pieces, but it was lovely and the italian bread complimented it well. The bacon was nice and crispy. And the fruit bowl was one of the best fruit bowls I've seen offered, it had a wide range of fruit with some freshly made whipped cream, fantastic. The cinnamon french toast also had the whipped cream and was perfect size and consistency. My girlfriends western omelette was great, everything was cooked perfectly and the ingredients were cut up well which gave a great consistency. Really the best part about the place was the people there, a woman told us the history of the restaurant and how it came to be, there was a family with a set of twins and a Chihuahua, they had a birthday and everyone sang and the owner knew everyone by name and it was just a pleasant place to be. Read moreWe saw a review online and thought we would try this place out. When we got there they sat us at a table with four seats.(there were 2 of us). So after we ordered coffee they came over and said they had to move us back a table to a table for 2 so they could seat another party where we were. Ok….but maybe they should’ve had us wait a few extra minutes for the table for 2. When we sat at the new table there was still a dirty glass from the previous party. We also watched them seat and move at least 1 other party. We sat for 50 minutes before our order was taken. We watched two tables that came in AFTER us get their orders taken. When we finally ordered it was another 20 minutes for food. The only hot food on our plates was the home fries. The over easy eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, bagel and toast were all cold. No butter on the toast. It was next to impossible to get the waitress’ attention so we ate the food as is. The worst thing over and above all of this was watching a CUSTOMER get up and go into the kitchen and pour himself more coffee!!! The coffee was actually IN THE KITCHEN. The cook was maybe 3 feet away from the coffee pot. I’m sorry, but if they let customers into the kitchen to help themselves….NO THANK YOU! We won’t be going back. North Ave Diner is directly across the street and has never...
Read moreMy family of 5 ate here and loved it! We were in the area visiting from Maine and Maine isn't very kid friendly because it's the oldest state in the country. We looked in and saw a small diner and thought eh maybe we'll find somewhere else because we have young kids and we don't want to bother anyone. We started walking away and the waitress came running out and said "hey you guys looking for somewhere to eat?" We said yes and she said "oh ok we'll set a table up for you! No problem." I was already impressed 👍🙏 and thought it was such a kind welcoming gesture. Once we sat down my kids found a little kids corner with toys and books, and to our surprise a table of what seemed like regulars were extremely nice and welcoming to our kids. It was an incredible experience coming from cranky old retirement land (Maine) the food was 10/10 I got an omelette with beautifully sauteed vegetables, and the bread was really really good too. I grew up in stoneham and moved to Maine when I was young, this was our first stop in Massachusetts this trip and it had me missing living in Massachusetts right away. We will be back to carol's everytime we go to Massachusetts 100% and once we move to mass I'll be there daily. ❤️ Thanks for being so kind and welcoming. Family oriented businesses like this is what our...
