Well, where do I start? Myself & three of my girlfriends were dining at the 502 restaurant on St. Patrick's Day. We had heard good things about the restaurant and knew the resort was considered upscale, so we were looking forward to treating ourselves to a nice meal. To start, we ordered for drinks. A dirty martini, a Moscow Mule, a margarita with sugar on the rim, and Kahlua/ Baileys in a lowball glass. When our drinks came back, they served the Moscow mule and a giant water drinking glass, my friends Margarita was also served in a water glass and it tasted awful, and the Bailey's Kahlua drink had some sort of soda in it and chunks of stuff floating on the surface. The only drink that was right was the dirty martini. We complained about the drinks, the server replaced the Kahlua Bailey's drink as well as a margarita. Second time around, the margarita still tasted pretty bad and they put salt on the rim instead of sugar, like she asked. Next, we ordered our food. A vegetarian plate with french onion soup, pork tenderloin, the shrimp appetizer, and the Almond crusted walleye. The vegetarian plate was missing the wild rice, the portobello mushroom tasted like pure vinegar (it was so strong my eyes were watering), the French onion soup was basically gravy with salad croutons floating in it. My friends almond crusted walleye was soggy and gross, and the worst plate of the evening was the pork "tenderloin" plate. It was 3 strips of Canadian bacon with some sort of jelly on top. (Tasted like Smuckers if you ask me.) I truly can't believe they get away with calling that dish pork tenderloin. The pork was about 1/2 in thickness. I don't think any of us ate more than three bites off any of our plates.
I'm giving 502 an overall 2-Star rating because the shrimp appetizer was very good and the service was also pretty good. The food was a absolute joke though. I don't think I could ever give them another try unless I knew that hired an...
Read moreThanks for touching back. We were on vacation, stopped in because we had heard about you. Here is how it went, the waitstaff was a young man blonde curly hair, we did not get a name, there were 4 of us and none of us remember hearing him tell us his name. We ordered, food arrived for 3 of us, I had ordered the German Sausage special. So the others ate 1/3 of their meal and I finally got mine, the special, there were 3 loaf looking pieces on top of the sausage and sauerkraut, which were very cold and gummy. I did not eat them. After receiving our food our server never returned to our table. It was not busy and there was a lot of waitstaff working. We all finished and he returned, I ask about the items on top of the special what it was and was it to be served cold. I got a " I don't know. Another person in our group got the chicken with a mix of vegetables, they looked bad and tasted bad. She tried a few bites, but it was bad, we ask about the condition and his response was, " yep that looks really bad" and took the plate away. Came back with our check, no sorry for the bad meal, or to answer any of our concerns on the meal. I looked at the check and I had 1 - glass of wine he charged me $30. for my 1- glass of wine, had to hunt him down to correct our check. His response was " oh I hit a wrong button" I own a retail business we have been in business for 38 years. This man needs more training, because at this stage he is not an asset to your business. I appreciate your reply and hope you can correct this issue so other customers do not get this kind of...
Read moreOUTSTANDING FOOD, SERVICE, AMBIANCE AND NEW MANAGERS! We have been dining here for years. We had our rehearsal dinner at the 502 years ago because we love the Chase On The Lake so much. Over the years the food quality and cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
We were thrilled to find out new ownership had taken over a place that was near and dear to our hearts. I flew in from Texas this afternoon and this was the first place I wanted to eat. The Facebook pictures werenât wrongâŠ. the food looks delicious and was even better than it looked. The restaurant was cleaner than we have seen in a decade!!
This is 4th of July weekend and the place is packed! We waited 45 minutes for a table of 9 to eat inside. They made us feel welcomed without rushing us. The servers are all new, smiling and know the menu well! The new manager came in and greeted friends old and new. The manager working the line was all smiles which is rare. Amanda the bartender made a mean cocktail. The Alfredo sauce is nothing to bat an eye atâŠ. homemade and the real deal! Walleye is fresh from lower Red Lake and gone is the nasty old pecan crusted greasy fish. The tarter sauce is homemade and couldâve been eaten with bread! Skip the expensive fish at Boulders and save your money with this. I did the walleye sandwich sans bun. The cheese curds were so good we ordered 2 more baskets!
We will make sure we come a few more times before...
