I have seen many people write reviews where they say they wish they could leave a negative star rating and I was always curious on how a situation could be that bad. Well, this Pieology location and repeated bad experiences have given me the perspective that they truly lack an understanding of what customer service is.
Many times I had visited while in uniform and told we received a discount, but when I examined my receipt I found that not to be the case. No biggie since I don’t expect any special treatment but why offer something you aren’t going to honor? Honesty is everything.
Then there was another time that I saw bugs all over the restroom and tried to let your management know so they could fix it discreetly, only to be rebuked like I was lying. I brushed it off because everyone has a bad day and food service can be stressful.
But today took the cake/pie. My young son loved Pieology because he has multiple food allergies and they have always gone above and beyond to cater to his needs. When it comes to this situation, Pieology and many other businesses voluntarily will ensure their workers change gloves and ensure there is no cross contamination, to the best of their ability. When my wife noticed the worker was not taking some basic steps to do this, she addressed this with who she thought was the manager. This manager immediately went to the employee in question and basically put them on the spot. Human nature is that people will become defensive, it happens. That is why you correct in private and just offer to fix the problem for a customer. But no, this so called manager responds by insinuating my wife was lying and that my 10 year old was arguing with she and the employee. A total fabrication of the facts. When my wife says that the food is not acceptable and that she is going to contact corporate, your response is that “you are the owner” and “you can leave”?
I wonder out loud that if my sons allergy was explained in advance and that you totally disregarded your own process to handle these situations, would it be considered an ADA violation. At a total minimum it is horrible customer service and not how you would want yourself or a family member treated.
But that’s fine. I will just drive a little farther and patronize Blaze, Pizza Press, or Pizza Rev for my individual and business catering needs. They have always understood respect and people’s needs. Nobody wants to get sick eating, something a lot of us take...
Read moreDon't waste your time; spend your money where people are happy. You come where they work. No one greeted me because all three ladies were looking at their phones. From the time I entered until I walked up to the register, finally, someone looked up, and I was instructed to go around the corner and see the menu. While ordering my pizza, the maker appeared annoyed that I was requesting more broccoli. She took one piece of broccoli and spent 30 seconds breaking it into tiny pieces; after she completed the first piece of broccoli, I asked her to add more. This is how she proceeded in adding each item. I was baffled and frustrated because I had never experienced this type of service at a pieology. I loved going to pieology. I have visited Pieology near Antioch, CA, and Walnut Creek, Ca. Never have I ever been treated like these three ladies treated me. No smiles or excitement in there voices, no interaction with the customers. The mood was as if I was in a funeral home and everyone should be quiet. I asked for a dipping sauce and the lady responded(Erica the manager) those are the only ones we have. I wondered if you still have others. She said no, that's all we have since I and (pointing to Alex) have been here. However, I can't remember the name of the dipping sauce I used to get. It was brown, and it was back around 2018. However, the ladies were not friendly and could have stated, "maybe it is an older dipping sauce" that we no longer carry. Still, instead, they came across as unconcerned, and that's all we have. I asked for the names of the three ladies, I can't remember the name of the person who made my pizza, but I do remember Erica and Alex. When she closed the box and handed it to me, I could see she didn't care because the box wasn't closed properly with care. I went outside and looked at the pizza, which was a mess. I requested extra cheese and cooking time to melt the cheese and well-cooked crust. It appears that you have changed the type of mozzarella. The taste was horrible like imitation cheese. I literally got sick with an upset stomach. However, I have a sensitive stomach, and when I took it home my son ate the pizza with no problems. I paid $12.32 and couldn't return the pizza, so I gave it to my son, hoping he wouldn't get sick. I was compelled to inform my favorite Pizzeria I will Never revisit this location, and I will share it with my...
Read moreNothing really wrong, but it wasn't the absolutely best pizza I've ever had so I didn't give it 5 stars. But it was good and I'd come back.
I love the concept of the build-your-own fast-casual pizza places. I never got it at a regular pizza place that you could get their special with everything on it but if I wanted to build my own pizza individual toppings are like $2 and it would cost me almost double to make a custom pizza with the similar amount of like toppings, OR if I don't want sausage but want to substitute bacon instead (a meat for a meat) half the time those places will charge you extra, ridiculous. The math on both those scenarios don't add up. Well, you don't have to worry about that here as you get unlimited toppings when you build your own pizza for one reasonable price. Great concept!
I've been here before and also to their competitors and I liked one over the other but can't remember exactly why. Lol. I think Pieology beats out the other guy (I can't remember their name right now) because of their "pie-rise" thick crust dough and the fact they offer sun dried tomatoes. If you want thick crust at the other place they just squeeze together two balls of dough instead of one. It's not the same as one big "fluffy" ball of dough that Pieology does.....which is better. I also like sun-dried tomatoes. I hate regular tomatoes but love sun-dried (or "vine-ripened") as they are very sweet and taste nothing like a regular tomato. If you've never tried them, give them a shot....well at least here cause the other place doesn't have them.
The only thing I didn't really love today was the garlic cheese bread. It wasn't BAD per say, but the garlic SEEMED to have some kind of a marinade it was in. The garlic had a very slight taste of vinegar and also seemed a little bit sweet. I can't say for sure but it was SOMEthing. It wasn't bad, but I just want my garlic bread to taste pretty traditional and this had SOME kind of subtle extra flavor to it that it didn't need.
So really good over all. There were a couple flies bugging me too while I was eating (inside) but...
