Shoppers Cafe — Restaurant in Waltham

The food here was quite interesting. Not especially good or especially bad, but quite different than I expected. Being different is not bad for a food, in fact, it should really be seen as a benefit to be served something fresh and innovative, I just found some of the choices to be interesting ones. For one, I do not think I have ever been to a restuarant that serves boneless chicken unbreaded. The chicken was good, soft, and the sauce was flavoful, but it was so odd not having the crunch of a breaded coating. The nachos also were a basket of chips and a skillet with beef and toppings like a dip. It was much cleaner, and you could portion each chip, but not having the cheese melted on the chips directly was just unusual. I spent most of the meal thinking "huh, I wonder why they did it this way?" Then I left after I finished eating. Decent prices and large portions, I definitely felt very full...

As mediocre an experience as you can have. The attraction here is the amount of televisions and the fact that it's the only sports bar on Moody Street, at least until Playmakers decides to stay open later than 10. The food here is your run-of-the-mill pub food, with odd additions to classics- gorgonzola on brussel sprouts, turkey tips marinated in a very lemony vinaigrette. Steak tips were done correctly, but felt a bit cool. The drinks are nothing special with no care put into them. The staff has been rude a few times, but nothing egregious. Service is pretty good here. However when me and a friend came in recently the food was pretty bad. Fries were undercooked. My friend didn't want to be "that person" and send them back. Used to be great food but it's gone downhill the past few months. Under cooked burgers and I don't know what kind of patties they use,but just no. The pizza is always over cooked. However the Reuben is great! Also when I asked for a specific wine the waitress told me she didn't know if they had it. Didn't bother to go check or apologize. And when I was served my red wine I don't know if some spilled out of the glass or it spilled when poured but there were was wine on the outside on the glass and it made a mess on the table. ☹
