When it comes to Middle Georgia, the heart of its charm isn’t just its picturesque landscapes or southern hospitality—it’s the vibrant sense of community that ties it all together. And if you’re looking for the epicenter of that community, you’ll find it nestled within the walls of Woodlands Coffee Roasters & Café, where fellowship is always on tap and the coffee is nothing short of legendary.
Speaking of legends, let’s talk about The Original Goat. No, we’re not referring to the “Greatest Of All Time” quarterback or a particularly spry barnyard animal—we’re talking about a coffee blend that could make anyone’s taste buds do a happy jig. With notes of strawberry, creamy undertones, honey bunches of oats, and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s like sipping on a warm strawberry shortcake that somehow landed in a cereal commercial. Word on the street is it’s so good, it made “Kaldi’s Kids” dance—and honestly, who can blame them?
But Woodlands is more than just a place to grab an amazing cup of coffee; it’s a cornerstone of the Middle Georgia community. Step inside, and you’ll find more than the comforting hum of an espresso machine—you’ll find people. Lots of people. Small groups swapping stories over lattes, Bible studies diving deep into scripture with macchiatos in hand, and book clubs passionately debating plot twists while nibbling on muffins.
There’s a warmth here that goes beyond the perfectly steamed milk. Woodlands has become a haven where strangers become friends, and friends become family. It’s the kind of place where the baristas know your order before you even reach the counter (and might even slip you an extra smile with your cup).
The café itself is a delightful blend of rustic charm and cozy corners. Whether you’re settling in with your laptop for a productive work session or gathering with your favorite crew to catch up on life, Woodlands has a spot for you. And if the conversation starts to lull (unlikely, but still), you can always turn to the rich, flavorful companionship of The Original Goat to get things rolling again.
So, if you find yourself in Middle Georgia, don’t just pass through—stop by Woodlands Coffee Roasters & Café. Whether you’re there for a soulful cup of The Original Goat, a heartwarming chat with your community, or simply a break from the hustle, you’ll leave feeling a little lighter, a lot happier, and 100% caffeinated. Who knew Middle Georgia’s secret to joy came with a side of...
Read moreWaited a few days before posting a review. Still irritated with the experience, so the fact that I'm still going out of my way to post should speak volumes. In fact, this might be the first review I've ever posted. Hopefully they take this feedback to heart.
Perhaps I'm not the coffee connoisseur I thought I was, but the coffee was absolutely terrible. Almost had a medicinal taste to it. Metallic might be a better way to describe it.
Food was bland and adequate at best. Sandwich was so dry and uninspired. I was better off just staying at home or sticking to my usual dining spots. What irks me the most was the service, which is the main reason I'm spending time with this review.
Ordered from the waffle menu section where the item is advertised as including berry jam. When opening up my sandwich, no jam. Initially, I was given butter and syrup, which I thought was odd. Anyway, when I went up front to request berry jam, I was given this packaged orange marmalade. I was expecting homemade berry jam and not some generic crap.
The whole check-in system and dining experience was bizarre too. I will admit that the food was served in a timely manner, but it just seemed like none of the staff wanted to do anything extra. Requested utensils and was told to get them from "over there." They just stayed in their lane and remained narrowminded regarding best practice with customer service. There just wasn't much going on between the ears, if I'm being honest.
Truth be told, I didn't even finish my meal. Matter a fact, after taking a single bite, I just left. The disappointment was just so great, I didn't even bother asking for a refund and...
Read moreSo, I loved this place when it first opened. It was such a thriving location and seemed to be a breath if fresh air for many of us who needed to see more quality and diversity in middle GA’s restaurant industry . But now, I feel the quality is declining. Went in for my favorite sandwich a “Cluck Norris Sandwich” and the chicken tenders seemed warmed up or previously microwaved from an earlier day. They literally made my stomach hurt. I should have known because my food came out about 5 minutes after I ordered— which isn’t typical… they usually take a while, which I don’t mind bc it’s fresh. I let the server know and they quickly remade the order and also offered a gift certificate. I can appreciate them trying to make it right.
But here’s another issue. The establishment is not culturally diverse place. Or at least the employees could use some cultural training. As I was waiting for my sandwich, a younger blonde and white server yells really loudly (I guess jokingly) “ORDER FOR SHANIQUA” with this huge grin on her face. Her friend who I guess was eating there in the restaurant, stands up and grabs the order, but with a slight smile—- not really going along with the joke. Her friend, is also—might I add a younger white female, her name obviously wasn’t Shaniqua, but somehow that’s how the employee choose to joke—- using a culturally diverse name to embarrass her friend— ha ha *inserts eye roll.
So yea- on top of the decline in quality and the culturally insensitive employees who seem to joke at the expense of some ppl’s...
