I was so excited to join my friend for dinner after seeing him post videos & reviews about the food here. When we walked in I was impressed by the cute decor (very Instagramable), large menu and good selection of Vietnamese snacks. They had free spa water (cucumber/lemon) available and new snacks samples out for trying. I really liked the spicy pork Cracklin and the surprisingly sweet squid snack.
We ordered iced coffee & mango smoothie to drink and 88 Special roll, 2 steak & Roasted Pork Belly bowls (with and without fried egg), fish ball & shrimp ball skewers; and Shrimp Toast to eat. The standouts were the coffee (deep rich flavor); the meat, spring roll and spicy noodles within the bowl. I personally like noodles but would get rice next time because I think that would work better with the broth and sauces they give with it. Speaking of sauces… bowls come with 3 dipping sauces but watch out for the one that looks like grated horseradish with chili peppers it is a HOT!
The skewers were also great - very juicy, flavorful and a good chew to them. I liked the mango smoothie (fruity & very creamy) but thought it could’ve had more mango flavor and wish that I would’ve picked the avocado. I came for the 88 special roll and it was good. The bread was perfect balance of crusty outside soft inside, veggies toppings were deliciously pickled and cooling, meat was moist and filling. I’m not a fan of shrimp toast but my friend thought it was fantastic!
We happened to go right before they are having their one year anniversary so I definitely want to come again to redeem the offer of a free...
Read moreRecent visit update Jan 2024: Have been back a few times but just wanted to highlight the awesome service here. Took a sip of the mango smoothie and it was a bit bland. I told the server and he kindly offered to make another one but because they use real mango so I was concerned it was off season and the next one would taste similar so I asked to change it for the Viet coffee instead. He was very kind and made the Viet coffee which tasted amazing! 👍 Food-wise… the banh mi we ordered were so good! Got the shredded chicken and grilled pork and both were so flavorful! Some times food places changes over time but this place is always consistent in the quality and customer service! 👍👍👍
Previous post 6 months ago: This place only opened about 3 weeks ago and I’m so glad I randomly found them on Google maps after craving for some authentic Vietnamese Banh Mi. The menu is the perfect amount of variety! I was speaking to Alice and she was so warm and sweet! Helped me with choices and made the best damn Ca Phe Sua Da ever!!! Vietnamese coffee was so good and strong… definitely got me wired for hours! We got a Grilled Pork Banh Mi, Pate Pork Roll Banh Mi and their 88 Special Banh Mi… the sandwiches are absolute flavor bombs! So delicious! The pate and the beurre was so good… the meat portions were legit… and you get your money’s worth…no 2 slices of meat here 😊… we highly recommend you come and check it out so this could be your go to for Banh Mi and Viet Coffee… I’m coming back to try the other items on the...
Read moreUpdated 10/25/24 I spent more than $100 this past weekend here, a place I rated 5 stars just months ago and was disappointed that every single item I bought was wrong. Such a different experience from my initial visit. They did improve their pate; however, the 8 sandwiches I purchased were all done wrong. They even toasted the bread knowing that I asked for the veggies on the side and had to travel with them. In addition, they didn't even give enough veggies for each of the sandwiches...it's disappointed, I was hoping they would keep their quality....and like most places, it seems to be slipping..
I bought two large sandwiches 1) special 2) cha lua, both were delicious. I also purchased sugar cane juice and vietnamese coffee.
Pros: Bread, it is exactly how the staple banh mi should be, very difficult but they perfected it!! Cha Lua was some of the best. Vietnamese coffee was good also, but premade.
Cons: veggies in sandwiches was not enough, also needs a little tart and tang to it. Pate was not good. In fact, I might have to ask to have it removed next time which is too bad because I love pate. Price was a little on the high side, I paid about $40 which is a lot. Large sandwiches were really...
