COUNTRY OVEN — Restaurant in Warren

Where do I begin... I asked my FB group for recommendations for a place with good Fish and Chips dinner. Quite a few said Country Oven so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived we were greeted right away and seated by a most pleasant woman that we soon found out was the owner Tina! When we told her it was our first time there she proceeded to give us a Cliff's Notes version of the history of the place. They've owned it for 32 years... (I've lived in Warren for 38 years... How have I not dined here ???) Her husband does most of the cooking and makes some amazing meals. So... we came for the Fish and Chips so that's what we got. My husband and I split the F&C dinner which came with soup, salad or coleslaw, and dessert. Soup of the day was clam chowder which we love so we both got the soup which was just wonderful. He slices or chops the potato in the chowder into small pieces so they just melt in your mouth. His preferred spices were seen floating in the creamy mixture and we were just in heaven with the delectable flavor. When the fish and chips showed up there were 3 lightly battered and perfectly deep fried pieces of Cod so the coating was crisp and the fish light, tender and flaky. Loads of fries, plenty to share. Lisa stopped by to check on how we were doing and dropped off a small bowl of her husband's macaroni and cheese to sample. We were quite surprised and thankful to try it. Again... homemade and delicious creamy mac and cheese. After dinner our knowledgeable waitress asked what we wanted for dessert and listed off at least a half dozen options. We opted for the homemade tapioca pudding. and OMG it was delicious. Still had the light skin on top so you know it was homemade and topped with a generous amount of whipped cream and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. To say we were happy with our meal is an understatement. Can't wait to come back and try some of their other specials. (I know this review is already probably too long but my son was with us too and he got a Mushroom Swiss burger combo with salad and fries. The burger was enormous and juicy and full of mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese. Again tons of fries and a sizeable side salad. First of all..when we walked in the couple before us..were seated by a server..My friend and I were instructed to find a seat in the section to the left🤔😳🤷🏾‍♀️. As we seat ourselves..our server comes over..hands us the menu..then leaves. We look over the menu..decide what to eat..Our server comes to the table..My friend orders a Meat lover's omelette..I order a Country omelette..(I love sausage gravy ☺️). This is how it reads.. Sausage..Spanish onions..green peppers and hash browns..country gravy over the top of the omelette.. yummy..this is what I order..you also have a choice of pancakes/hash browns..I order pancakes..being that the omelette comes with hash browns 👍🏾👍🏾. The food comes out..I proceed to cut my omelette..I take a bite..I taste no hash browns 🤔🤷🏾‍♀️. I then cut open the whole omelette and it has all the other ingredients except the hash browns 🤔😳....the veggies are chunky..Me personally like my veggies sliced bite size..it was the sign of a lazy cook..(my opinion)!! I asked the server about the hash browns she says"no it comes on the side" I said well when reading the description that's not how it reads🤷🏾‍♀️..well she was trying to convince me..I responded by saying..well why does it say and? I didn't want it..sent it back..no thank you..I don't want anything..I had the 3 mini pancakes that had arrived that I ordered..I ate those. My friend asked for heated syrup..( you like what you like 😉)..she takes the bottle of syrup off our table.. takes it to the microwave..pours it in a butter dish..heats and brings it back.🤦🏾‍♀️😳 My experience was not great..I didn't like the food..the omelettes were dry..as was the...

Great place to eat...they have the best omelette ever...never had any problem with food.. but yesterday my sister in laws were there...our waitress was not very friendly...we gave her napkins that were left on table from previous guests... instead of he throwing away she put it in the carry out container she had and went to back...she didn't know if they were on floor or if someone had contaminated them.. when our food arrived my in law order well done waffle I also ordered a waffle...my in law says I ordered well done...so she took my waffle from me( I guess she didn't want to go to the kitchen)..from me and gave it to her... we started laughing and said I said are you serious...and then she said you want me to go get you another.. I said no ma'am I'm good...you may leave we don't need you anymore...then she offered us napkins we said oh we're good...so she knew what she did was wrong..so she said it's not the same I threw them out... wrong answer..I clearly seen you go the the entrance and put the napkins and the carry out container on the table in back...did I mention we witness her wiping her nose on several occasions without washing hands...I never had a bad experience there ever...my daughter and I use to visit there frequently when I live in the area...not sure what her issue was with us..but we didn't feel ok..she also gave us our bill shortly after our meal never had that happen either..but that's not going to stop me from returning.. maybe she was having a bad day or we remind...
