i’m sad to say i’m not sure i’ll be eating here anymore, the food is AMAZING! I had my 9th bday here in 2011, and ever since anytime i don’t feel well / get sick i have to have cabbage soup and spaghetti with meat sauce - truly my whole life… my favorite part of the soup is dipping the white bread into my soup. I’ve always been given a sandwich bag with two slices in it (as well as the slice of garlic toast). recently i’ve started asking for an extra bag because that’s truly how i eat my soup and tend to not have enough; i call and ask through the phone every time and have to remind when i arrive - no biggie! the thing that’s disappointing is i was told that i will be charged 50¢ if i didn’t ask over the phone. i didn’t argue, although i DO ask but i understand the industry and customer service so i simply agreed; last night when i ordered i made sure to not be rude as i truly wasn’t trying to be that type of person - i just wanted my bread. the woman on the phone sounded very frustrated with me and told me that 1. that my meal doesn’t even come with bread (it has always come with bread to dip and garlic toast- i don’t care abt the garlic toast) and 2. that there is already extra bread (?) i was confused as that is very contradictory and i was NOT trying to argue! i repeated that i was not trying to be rude, i wouldn’t ask for bread if it didn’t normally come with it and if i have to pay for it that’s fine just can i please have 2 sacks of bread for each soup (my partner and i both got soup and both love bread) 4 total. again she told me that she will “give it to me this time” but that my meal doesn’t even have bread. of course, when i arrived, there was no extra bread. i said “im rlly not trying to be annoying but can we please get two more sacks of bread? we made sure to ask on the phone & i said you could charge me” she was clearly annoyed by this and said “i mean i guess. there’s literally already extra bread in there” (there wasn’t) i reminded her i would pay and she said “i’m not gonna run a card for 50¢” this experience really turned me off - i can handle having to communicate with my server but i can’t handle whatever that was. i was uncomfortable with the way i was being treated as if i had some whimsical, extraordinary request / as though i was being difficult when i was trying to make it as easy as possible - im almost certain nobody would’ve handled that the way i did, bc i handled it that way so i didn’t feel like getting one of my favorite meals is going to be a very uncomfortable experience. i’m a customer that has been coming to theos / getting carry out MOST of the time (90% of what i eat from theos i carry out), i have always gotten bread and i don’t think an extra sack of bread is such a gluttonous request. regardless, even if there has never bread in the bag i very kindly said that i’m not trying to be difficult and i will pay for 2 extra sacks - 4 in total, so why did i show up to only 2 sacks, asked for the other 2, was spoken to very rudely as if i am makibg her job harder, reminded her i said i can pay for it and then told “i’m not gonna do that for 50¢” but said that i had to pay but ALSO not let me while telling me bread never came with my meal at all? it’s truly baffling, EVEN SO good service is saying “of course but i will have to charge an extra 50¢ is that okay?” ON TOP OF ALL OF THIS she still only gave us one extra bag i do not understand the weird bread game you guys have going on here and im sad about it bc this was my favorite and ONLY cabbage soup place, you guys have to train ur severs and have an understanding of what costs what and what comes with what, don’t treat your customers as if they’re asking for so much food/make them uncomfortable seemingly bc a server didn’t want to be wrong / give me extra bread for god knows why. instead of just losing 50¢ for bread you’ve now lost tens of thousands of dollars in annual revenue from me and my...
Read moreHadn't been here in awhile and I wanted to take my dad out for dinner to a place he had never been before. So I convinced him to try Theo's and not go to his usual stomping ground Country Oven.
We were greeted in a timely manner and seated. The hostess was pleasant and had asked what we wanted to drink, which brought immediately. Within a few minutes Shay, our waitress, greeted us at the table with a big smile and asked if we ready to order. We had asked for more time since this was dad's first time being there. She came back in a short time and took our order.
The order came up in a matter no time. That's were things went down hill from there. While the food was good and prepared as ordered our waitress (SHAY) was nowhere to be found. We spotted her at other tables and back in the kitchen I am sure getting soups or side salads for other guest. At no time did she come back to check on us to see how our meal was or if we were even joking the food. Never offered refills on coffee as we were empty and had to ask for the refill. Which she did get in a matter of minutes.
There was not one employee walking around refilling coffees or water, cokes, etc. When there should had been or the staff, whether it's the waitstaff or bussers (when not bussing tables) should be walking around offering refills to the guest.
Now some might believe this to harsh or give them a break, while that might be most guest, but I have worked in the industry for over 17 years, from server to management, and whether as, a server or management, always made sure my guest had been either refilled with new drinks or asked.
Needless to say dad stated he would not be back and stay with his tried and true (COUNTRY OVEN on Hoover Rd) There he felt since they have someone always walking around refilling drinks he could always get refills without asking for or waiting for the staff to do so. Check # 06013 3/26/22
Update 7/30/22...we decided to try again. Food was great and everything was good from the first initial greeting to taking ouree order and the food coming out in timely manner. Warm, and cooking just the way we ordered it. Once again though the waitress Zoe dropped the ball this time. Never came back to check on us to see on the meal was and my Coke sat empty and never was refilled. Several other employees walked by and even the owner and not one ever stopped to ask if I wanted a refill nor just brought one.
The whole ironic thing here is I belong to Facebook group and someone was looking for recommendations on where to go. Theos was mentioned quote a few times. Like stated earlier food was great and greet. It is always once the food hits the table the server disappears until it is time for the check. Unfortunately they will never hold a candle to Country Oven. They never miss on their service..I have worked in industry for over 17 years from a server to a trainer to a manager (BRIO Somerset Mall) the type of service that happens at Theos would never be allowed to happen. The owner needs to pay more attention to details and his servers and quite using so much time talking to guest. That he shouldn't but when your restaurant is busy one has to pay attention to what is going on and help his servers out
Ample parking, handicap parking and seating, wide variety on their menu, priced $$, accepts cash, credit cards, debit cards, carry-out orders and...
Read moreThe food is good for the most part, but the service not so much. So many times we have ate here and it seems the service is just going down hill. They nickel and dime you for everything no matter the loyalty. Whenever I place orders over the phone I have to remind them to NOT place my cold items with my hot food, but yet it continues to happen. On several occasions I receive my salads wilted because of this. The waitress taking my order always give me an attitude because I like things made a specific way, so I'm guessing she doesn't like to have to write more. Whenever I come in and if Theo is helping at the counter.. I sometimes avoid showing him the coupon from their website cause anytime I do so he doesn't like it and it clearly shows. One time he told me... your food is already discounted which made no sense to me cause it wasn't so the only thing I can assume is that it's because their prices are already low. Why even offer a coupon on your website if you don't like customers using it!?? We eat there all the time because of my elderly father. Theo has never really showed much kindess to me, but yet I see him treat all of the seniors in there with a smile on his face. My family won't be eating here for a while or if ever again. Last time I had to drive all the way back up there because of an issue and he made it out like I was lying and embarrassed me in front of soo many customers. What happened was when I called to complain on my way back up there the waitress on the phone misunderstood my complaint and told Theo incorrect information. I did not like the way he talked down to me in front of everyone and once I corrected him on the issue he didn't even apologize! All he said was "oh I guess there was a misunderstanding". Also, he has over charged me. We usually always order the same thing and the cost of our food is never the same. They do not give you a receipt with a breakdown which maybe they should. Normally when my orders are wrong or the food isn't up to par I don't complain, but more and more problems keep happening with my carry out orders that I can't just bite the bullet anymore. I am very disappointed with how I've been treated and it sucks that because of Theo and the way he embarrassed me... I now have to tell my elderly father we need to take a break from Theos. My father loves their food and eats from there every week... well, you just lost some really loyal customers. Get it together Theo's. Your food is good, but maybe you should show some more appreciation for the ones who are loyal and stop making waitresses answer the phone to take orders that don't feel like doing their jobs because it doesn't seem like they are paying attention well enough to get your...
