I took my boyfriend out to celebrate Sweetest Day today because he loves Mexican food and Don Ramon’s is one of my favorite restaurant chains. We both ordered tacos, my boyfriend got the street tacos and I got the fish tacos. My boyfriend was a huge fan of his, mine were okay. The inside of the taco was good but the shell itself tasted like communion bread. It tasted stale and lacking in flavor. I ended up just dumping it out and eating the fish and extras.
The most egregious part of the meal was the service. Our server was Aida and she provided terrible service. She took so long to greet us that the host needed up taking our drink orders. The only time we ever saw her is when she brought us drinks and our waters, which I had to ask for even though it is restaurant standard to bring waters with alcoholic beverages. Once we were finished eating we didn’t see her for at least 20 minutes before we were able to flag her down for the check. It then took another 10 minutes after asking for the check for her to come retrieve it. We noticed there was an automatic 20% gratuity which would be no issue except for the fact that the menu makes no note of this and the server did not inform us of this either. I have been to Don Ramon’s dozens of times at multiple locations and have never been charged an auto gratuity for a 2 person party. I honestly would have had no issue paying it if her service wasn’t terrible. I spent many years as a server so I always tip well when I receive good service because I know what it’s like to depend on tips.
The manager removed it with an attitude and they spoke about me in Spanish directly in front of me which shows what kind of people the management and select staff are. I still tipped about 12% because I assume they split tips and the other staff members who actually attended to us deserved it, but our server, Aida deserved nothing. If this was not a chain I loved I would never go back. I will never frequent this location again due to the poor service and...

Read moreI am a Blue Habernero fan. However, I'm open. The food I ordered was horrible. I was with 8 others who enjoyed their food. I am allergic to shellfish, so there you have that. I ordered chicken tacos that came with lettuce cheese and chicken. I asked for a side of pico and sour cream for my dry tacos. After receiving the bill, I saw I was charged $3 for the both of them. My complaint is with the tacos. I'm not sure how Taco Bell could have better tacos than an authentic franchise. We all did complain about the watered-down drinks, which are very expensive, and received an extra shot for our complaint. That's why the high stars for service. I didn't see any other tacos with any toppings on the menu, very busy menu too. Drink before you go or bring a flask and don't order regular tacos. I wanted to put comparison photos up, but I didn't. Thanks...
