From the minute we walked through the door to the time we walked out, everything was great. The staff was friendly and attentive. They were extremely patient with us (we had a lot of questions - first time dining at an Indian restaurant - and they were more than happy to make suggestions and instruct in how to best eat each dish.) The speed of service and food preparation were as good or better when compared to other sit-down restaurants. Everything from the floor to the chairs and tables were clean and organized.
We started with the Goat Pepper Fry as an appetizer (though it's big enough to be a shared entree if paired with some naan.) At just over $15, I was hesitant, but once it came out I felt I got quite the value! The goat is so tender and juicy, cooked slow and with tons of flavor (the spices coming mostly from black pepper) even the fat was delicious. The waitress informed us that some pieces would have bone in them, but that was easily removed. We ordered this spicy and were pleased with the amount of heat that came with so much flavor! We had an order of garlic naan with this and the two paired VERY well!
For entrees, we ordered the Extra Spicy Vegetable Chettinadu (a creamy gravy with carrots, cauliflower, onions, and peppers) which came with white long grain rice ($12.99) and the Spicy House Special Boneless Chicken Biryani (slow cooker/crock pot style cooked chicken in a pepper gravy with long grain rice and onions) which was $13.99. The Veg Chettinadu's heat was only slightly muted by the creamy gravy, and was absolutely delicious when sopped up with the "Bullet" Chille naan! The House Special Biryani was incredibly flavorful as is, but we tried it with the accompanying yogurt sauce, peanut sauce, and a combination of both. There are so many complimentary flavors in this dish, I literally had to stop eating it for over minute just to process and appreciate what I was eating. Both entrees were generously portioned, as we shared both and took home enough of each for a moderate lunch!
Total for all this, after tax, was $51.31 and it was incredibly filling and well worth it! I want to reiterate, any one of the items we ordered could easily have been a filling shared entree for 2!
Biryani Kitchen is definitely our new go-to...
Read moreAs a note - I have been back to this place about a dozen times since this first review. The kitchen timings and other issues I noted previously are now all absolutely perfect and have been ever since.
This place is pretty awesome, and absolutely you need to check them out. The food and service were very good.
I am only marginally experienced with Indian food, so we tried a few things just to experience something new.
First, we had a chicken curry with some garlic naan. It had a depth of flavor that I'd expect from an Indian curry dish, and the naan was very soft and warm and really some of the best I've had. The only downside is that the naan and curry were not delivered together, as I might have expected.
Second, we tried a Biryani dish, which is a highly aromatic rice layered with chicken (which, while not apparent from the menu, was well explained by our server). The chicken was cooked absolutely perfectly, and the rice was amazing.
Third, we had some Tandoori Chicken. The flavor was good, and while we were warned that the dish would take an extra few minutes because the Tandoori oven had to heat up (admittedly the restaurant was nearly empty), I still somewhat expected a dish labeled as an appetizer to come out first and the portion size seems WAY larger than an appetizer ought to be. The flavors and presentation were fantastic, however.
Overall it was a very positive experience, and I'll absolutely be back.
As far as value for money, I would say that dishes seem to be sized and priced well for sharing...
Read moreOur experience at Biryani Kitchen was our family's first time trying Indian food; and we were blown out of the water by how great the food was! If you have never tried Indian food you are missing out on one of the best cuisines on the planet.
The food: Everything is prepared from scratch and most of it can require up to 24 hours of preptime. All fresh ingredients make every dish pop. Everything comes out hot and fresh.
The menu: The menu is simple to understand. They offer three main proteins to choose from: chicken, fish, and goat. (hint: the goat is the GOAT!) Each protein can be prepared in apx. three different fashions: curried in several variations; marinated over rice (biryani), and tandoori style. Veggie dishes come in each one of these styles as well. Vegetarians can eat like kings here! The naan bread is a must!
The service: K was our server. He is kind, patient with us first timers, engaged and very helpful with every aspect of our experience. You rarely receive service of this kind. This description is reflected in all of the other service members we encountered.
The atmosphere: The dining room has a family feel and is clean, uncluttered and reflects a very tasteful representation of Indian culture.
Biryani earned not only return visits, but exclusivity in our future Indian cuisine experiences. There's no need to...
