I find it ironic that company owners who perpetuate the importance of tipping culture refuse to even thank their delivery drivers who carry in 15+ gallons of milk into the store, let alone, appropriately compensate their delivery drivers (Doordash, Shipt, Instacart, etc.) or reimburse for gas spent.
I'll be honest, I've never ate or ordered a drink here. But after seeing the state of the kitchen and refrigerators that they made me stock on MORNINGS (near empty; no rush), I will never risk it. There is nothing wrong with staffing your company with minors, but you have to instill some sort of food safety into them. I fear they leave their eggs and dairy products out way too long.
Staff are CONSISTENTLY on their phones. It's not the inattentiveness that is my concern, it's the touching the phone, then prepping/touching food. I've never seen a staff wash their hands here or discard things they've dropped. I'm not faulting staff, maybe they're told not to throw stuff away that they should in the sense of frugality.
I love the idea of this coffee shop and the atmosphere and decor is so unique. But the owners seriously need to take initiative when it comes to staff hygiene practices as well as clean up after prep. I fear that if food safety isn't pummeled into the minors/young adults who work here, someone is going to end...

The best part about it is that it's existence is so unlikely that you have to love it. If someone told me that I'll find quality, traceable coffee and some of the best baked goods (scones are out of this world) I've tried in the US in Warsaw, IN, I wouldn't have believed them. The level of pride and effort that is put in their artisan drinks (would recommend the fireside latte) is rarely seen anywhere.
It has been written that coffee shops are "reliable providers of happiness" and a "snapshot of a place they find themselves in". Three Crowns exemplifies this - it is it's own little universe which tends to make any well-wishing passer-by welcome and comfortable; for a few weeks in the middle-of-nowhere Indiana, it felt like home. This is mainly due to the people manning the ship. Always with a smile on their faces, never hurried, never unwilling to strike up a conversation.
So if you find yourself in this neck of the woods, do try them out. They just might surprise you.

Read moreThree Crowns Coffee is by far my favorite coffee shop in northern Indiana. The coffee is of high quality and very consistent in terms of milk and syrup, so you're never getting a surprise super sweet or super bitter latte. Most of their coffee syrups are also made in house, and let me tell you, the quality difference is notable. The employees and owner are happy to explain ingredients of food and drinks in detail so you can have a greater understanding of what you're consuming, which is especially beneficial if you have dietary restrictions or need to limit your caffeine intake.
As a small business owner, Three Crowns offers a quaint environment great for small meetings, or individual work. There's always thought provoking conversation taking place that anyone can hop in on. They also have some of the fastest wifi in the area, and as a photographer, this is a major perk.
I came to Three Crowns for the first time 4 years ago looking for a good coffee shop to have dates with my boyfriend. I've since developed new found friendships, a deeper understanding of quality coffee, and a consistent environment to...
