We have been very excited to try the new Tavolo - Warwick, as we absolutely love Tavolo - Providence, and Tavolo - Smithfield. We were not disappointed!
The hostess was super accommodating and the wait on a Saturday night was more than an hour; however, she was very optimistic and suggested that we start at the bar for a drink and an app, as a small table for two may open up soon. My girlfriend and I were in no rush and we love trying new designer cocktails and wines so we grabbed two seats at the bar.
The restaurant was rocking and the bartender was slammed but he could multi-task like no other. We had our drinks within 5 minutes of arrival! I had the Tavolo Mojito and the fresh blueberries rocked this drink! Delicious and refreshing...my girlfriend had a Cold River blueberry martini and she was blown away. The Maine vodka was the best she has ever had and Tavolo's twist on the martini was light, refreshing and delicious!
We started with the Salumeria board and my girlfriend, who is 100% Italian, said it was just as good as the meats and cheeses in Italy. Way to get the fresh, high quality meats and cheeses! We also shared the White Water Mussels and they were divine! The broth was light, flavorful, and the mussels were the perfect size (petite-medium).
We were halfway through our appetizers when the hostess told us our table was ready. We didn't want to rush and she told us to finish up and the table would be waiting for us. NOTE: There was a full line waiting and she was adamant that we enjoy our drinks and food!
We moved into the dining area and it was beautifully decorated, with intimate lighting and unique decor. We ordered a bottle of Tavolo "Foxhole Vineyard" Sauvignon Blanc Rheinhessen, Germany 2018. It was light, crisp, and flavorful. We absolutely love the New Zealand wines and this Germany wine did not disappoint!
Next up dinner...we did not rush and we really enjoyed the feel of the restaurant and the staff...exceptional service. We ordered the Pan Seared Salmon and the Frutti di Mare.....both blew us away. Again, my girlfriend is hardcore, old school Italian and she said the meals were delectable. The seafood was fresh, plentiful, and cooked to perfection. The sauce was tasty, not too heavy and just the right spice..not too hot....her salmon was fresh and flavorful....we shared both meals and by the end we were full and completely satisfied with our first Tavolo-Warwick experience. Thank you Tavolo staff! We will be...
Read moreLast night my husband and I met up with friends of ours for dinner. There is very limited parking in the front parking lot with faded and repainted lines. We had to park quite far back into the parking lot on a cold night. We were brought to a table where our friends were already seated that just happened to be in a very dark area of the restaurant. With the way the table was situated, my husband blocked the light from the overheads. No worries, I used my phone's flashlight to read the menu. The candles on the tables weren't lit. Our friends' drinks arrived shortly after my husband and I sat down. My husband ordered what our friend had ordered, but apparently they that was "the last one." Ok, my husband chose another drink. I ordered the surf and turf special for my entree only for the waiter to return to say it was no longer available. With the waiter's recommendation, I went with the Osso Bucco. When it arrived, I couldn't even see where to cut into the meat, or identify what was in the risotto because it was so dark. The flavor in that meal was in the demi glaze which was on the risotto and not the meat. Although we all had bread plates, and there was olive oil on the table, we were never brought bread or even asked if we'd like any. My husband requested bread with his meal so he could sop up his sauce. It never arrived. My friend told the waiter she'd like another cocktail with dinner, but it never arrived. For dessert, one of us ordered an espresso. The waiter replied that they were out of milk. This restaurant is within walking distance to a gas station. Nobody in that restaurant could walk over and buy some milk? I ordered 3 different flavors of gelato. The waiter returned to inform me they were out of one of them. Of course. It was the combination of all the little details that lead to a disappointing experience. With all the wonderful restaurants we have in this area, there's no reason to go...
Read moreIf you're hoping to experience "big city dining without the big city prices," Tavolo in Warwick is your culinary chariot. Since 2005, they've been mastering the art of Italian cuisine, and by George, they've got it down!
Let's dive fork-first into the dishes:
🍴 Appetizers: We embarked on our Tuscan journey with the 'Tavolo Meatballs'—and let me tell you, atop a bed of creamy polenta and under a blanket of marinara and parmesan? It's the stuff of Italian daydreams, all for a tenner!
🍴 For the Lady: My wife took a swim in the spicy depths of the "Shrimp Scampi Fra Diavolo". Delightfully tossed with broccolini, heirloom cherry tomato, onions, and that garlic wine sauce—oh, and let’s not forget the fiery embrace of crushed red pepper over capellini. It's zest and zestfulness for $26!
🍴 For Yours Truly: Now, I've met many a pork chop in my day, but Tavolo's 14oz bone-in wonder? With its companions—whipped sweet potato, flash fried brussels sprouts, and a tantalizing fig balsamic glaze—it's practically swine royalty. And at $28, it's a regal feast that doesn’t break the bank.
🍷 Libations: Ah, the drinks! The elixirs that lubricate an evening! Let’s just say, we clinked, we drank, we rejoiced.
A special tip of the hat to Isabella, our server, who was the compass guiding our gastronomic expedition. Stellar service, indeed!
In conclusion, if you're seeking authentic and innovative Italian cuisine that's been charming palates since 2005, let Tavolo be your table of choice. Whether it's a rendezvous of business or pleasure, as their website rightly claims, you truly owe it to yourself to choose Tavolo. Bon...
