I was feeling sick with the flu and staying at home when someone recommended I try Ambassador Restaurant. I called to place my order and explained what was recommended to make sure I got the correct dish—Shiro with Injera—and it was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, hot, and comforting, giving me the energy I needed while I wasn’t feeling well.

What I loved most was how easy it was to eat. When you’re sick, it’s often hard to swallow food, but Shiro was smooth and perfect for the moment.

What truly impressed me was their incredible hospitality. The owners treated me like family! Along with my order, they sent an orange 🍊 with the driver, which I hadn’t even ordered. Later, they called to check on me and suggested mixing the orange with honey and ginger—a traditional remedy to boost immunity.

The delivery was right on time, and everything arrived perfectly. This level of care and kindness is rare, and it made my experience unforgettable. If you’re looking for authentic Eritrean 🇪🇷 or Ethiopian 🇪🇹 food with top-notch service, I highly recommend Ambassador Restaurant! The owner, Selam, is...

I am writing in regards to a small purchase that I made here a few days ago. I came in to use the restroom and brought a can coke for me to use the restroom. I was charged $ 2.75 for the coke which I thought was a little over priced, but its DC so I didn't pay any attention. However, today when I checked my credit card balance, I was actually charged $5.50 for my coke. I called the restaurant to speak to the manager, but a lady picked up and told me the manager was not here and with a little more persistent from me she told me the manager was in the restroom and please call back later. I try to call back a few times, but no one is picking up the phone call. I would highly recommend anyone to not come here if they want to be ripped off and secretly charged after they leave. I respected your establishment, but the fact that you go and do something as underhand as this is just...

Everyone was very friendly & hospitable; the staff & the customers. It was very thoughtful to ask if I was familiar with Ethiopian cuisine when I ordered...

I got the shiro which arrived still bubbling in a preheated clay pot. It also came with a simple, traditional salad. It was delicious, exactly what I was hoping for. The flavor was excellent & authentic as well as the consistency. It was a very good value and I'm looking forward to my next visit!

It is a sports bar so expect it to be a bit loud. This was just fine with me, I enjoyed the lively mood and the Ethiopian music playing. The favor seemed a bit mismatched; not what I would expect for any Ethiopian restaurant or a sports bar but it was pleasant...

Definitely a locals place and locals vibe. Lots of old uncles chilling and talking about their day. Staff is a friendly part of that mix, and creates a warm vibe. We had the veggie platter along with the chicken tibs and the Ambassador (beef) tibs. Everything was solid, pretty flavorful, and appreciated the chicken and beef quality. Decor is a bit strange, very cheesy club aesthetic that doesn't go with the chill vibe. But it was all part of the experience. There are a lot of Ethiopian and Eritrean spots in this neighborhood, and they're all about the same honestly in terms of food quality, but this place distinguished itself with the very warm and friendly service.

The service was incredible! Very attentive and kind. The food was great too! This was our first time trying Ethiopian so we got a little of everything, including the veggie plate, chicken tidbits, and stew. My stew was a bit on the spicier side which I wasn’t expecting, but if you like a little kick you’ll enjoy it. The seating is a little low and can get uncomfortable after a while. Overall though I would come back for good, home cooked style food!
