1/5 Stars: A Disappointing Experience at Bombay Street Food Express 3, Washington D.C._
I'm extremely disappointed to write this review, as I was looking forward to enjoying authentic Indian street food at Bombay Street Food Express 3 in Washington D.C. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown, with subpar food quality and unimpressive service.
We ordered a variety of dishes, including the Sweet Gobhi Alu, Dal Fry, and Rotis. The Sweet Gobhi Alu, which I was particularly excited to try, was a major disappointment. The cauliflower and potatoes were raw and undercooked, making the dish inedible. The sweetness overpowered any other flavors that might have been present, making it a cloying and unpleasant experience.
The Dal Fry was mediocre at best. The lentils were cooked, but the dish lacked depth and flavor. It was a generic, uninspired rendition of a classic Indian dish.
The Rotis were another letdown. They were thick and undercooked, with a dense, doughy texture that was unappealing. It's inexcusable for an Indian restaurant to serve subpar rotis, as they're a staple of the cuisine.
The service was also unimpressive. Our server seemed disinterested and took a long time to take our order. The food arrived in a timely manner, but the server didn't check in on us regularly to ensure that everything was to our liking.
Overall, my experience at Bombay Street Food Express 3 was a disappointment. With subpar food quality and unimpressive service, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine.

Customer service: I have to mention this first because the customer service is really special. Weeta (not sure about the spelling of her name) is so lovely and remembered me from a past visit. So warm and welcoming.
Food: I've eaten here three times-- twice in person and take out once. The first time, for takeout, I got the two different thalis (veg and non veg), which was a wonderful way to be introduced to several of their dishes.
My personal favorite dish here is the vindaloo. If you're a heat freak like me, this is what you want. The chicken tikka masala is also great as is the butter chicken, Rogan Josh, Saag paneer, aloo Gobi, and biryani. The portions are quite generous and it's nice that they include rice with the entree. Oh--and the palak Chaat--get it! Delicious crispy spinach app with chutney, chopped onion, channa flour, etc. Wonderful balance to the spicy vindaloo.
They're open for lunch and dinner and I can't recommend it...
Read moreThis was an amazingly bad overall experience. We ordered cutting chai tea, pakora and vada pav. The tea was horrible- it was clearly stale- you know that smell and taste you get when chai has been stored in a container for a while and then reheated consumed- it was clearly smelling and tasting like that. Upon being asked if it was stale indeed, and if they could make us a fresh batch (and we were happy to pay for it), we were told that the kitchen was too busy to give us a replacement. When we were walking out, they went ahead and told us that they serve the same to everyone and they drink it quietly. The food was also very oily (I understand its fried food but I’ve made friend food at home and it doesn’t drip oil). There were screaming noises coming from the kitchen- assuming the manager was screaming at employees. And oh, the bathrooms- so so untidy- water everywhere, paper everywhere, seats not clean. The most terrible experience and zero...
