Rojyar is truly the best - he makes the framing experience fun and he knows what he is doing. He's highly skilled in extremely thoughtful when giving you options. He's honest, loves what he does, and genuinely cares about his customers. Best gallery in DMV area
WEDDING PHOTOS I went to Picasso Gallery to get my wedding photos framed and Rojyar could not have made the process easier. He is extremely perceptive and experienced, the two most important characteristics you want from a framing gallery. Within a few minutes I went from staring at a wall of endless frames while explaining my ambiguous idea of what I wanted the frames to look like, to having a small collection of frame choices in front of me. I was immediately confident and sure of what Rojyar selected for me and he so quickly understood the "look" i was going for.
This isn't a place where you have to choose between 15 shades of white, for example. Rojyar will show you the ones his skilled eyes know are best for the photo and make your decisions easy. He explains what certain frames/mattes may do to a photo and puts words to why you think some options look better than others.
PRICE He is the most transparent salesman you'll ever meet. He'll tell you "if you do this, it can save you $100." Where some framing galleries may encourage you to get add-ons like spacers for unmatted frames, he'll tell you what the spacer actually does and let you decide whether or not it is worth it. He is honest and thoughtful.
WATER COLOR PAINTINGS He also framed a water color painting for me last year and it was done so well that I knew there was no shot I would look at another gallery, plus I knew the experience would be so fun because he...
Read moreWatch out for exploitative pricing. I came in to Picasso Gallery (July 2025) to reframe a 2×4 painting—just a thin white wood floater frame and a new stretcher bar. No glass, nothing fancy or custom. Jacob quoted $1,500 AFTER a 25 % “sale discount.” I balked, and he just let me walk. No “What’s your budget?” No “Here’s how we can bring that down for you.”
I called the shop the next day describing the exact same job. Speaking to Royjar, the same job "could be above $500” depending on the frame. A 3× price swing for the same work says it all.
Even with premium materials, $1.5k for this as a "sale price" is absurd and excessive. Totally out of line with market norms. Maybe up to 700 or 800 would be fair, including floater frame and stretcher bar. If you use Picasso Gallery, ask them for an itemized quote with justification and shop around, or be ready for a massive up‑charge if they think you're an unsuspecting customer.
EDIT: Picasso’s response below is spin. I wasn’t told that the “simple white frame” I asked for was top tier Italian luxury. I wasn’t given multiple quotes by Jacob. And when I called the shop after for a second quote from Royjar, I specifically asked “what would it cost to reframe a 2x4 with a simple white frame?” and was told $500, but below they make it sound like 500 was a quote just for the...
Read moreMy wife and I have had the pleasure of coming to Picasso Gallery Custom Framing several times now in order to have some fairly large prints or original artworks framed, and Rojyar and his crew have done excellent work every time. Particularly nice is the one-on-one time we've enjoyed when working out frame/mat combinations for each piece as we always have questions regarding materials, dimensions and any compromises required when going from one size or format to another. They're always patient and clearly explain the best options for what we're after.
I'd like to add extra praise for a recent job in which we'd chosen a frame which proved too weak given the large size of the print. Rojyar switched to a thicker, more stable frame (and it looks great) and then reserved the already-assembled thinner frame for us since we'd already paid for the work. Many months later it was still available when we brought in a smaller print for framing, and they were able to cut the frame to fit our new print and with no additional charge. Cheers and thank you again, Picasso! We'll...
