I almost never write reviews. BUT this place really takes the cake, pun intended. š The Borrowed Kitchen Bakery is the best! š
On our way up and back down the West coast, starting from Los Angeles we decided to check out Kingston. Being formerly from Seattle, we knew the area but it had been a while.
This home-made bakery, very near the ferry exit, also makes some of their own entrees to go. As well as beautiful bread, and many fine pastries. All of it is great.
Their clam chowder, is THE greatest we have ever had, hands down! That is saying a lot. After being disappointed by some more commercial places a few times along our travels, in Seattle etc, THIS chowder recipe was a truly great find. We also purchased their own pre-packed frozen vegetarian lasagna, for later. So glad we did that. Wow! Also a lemon bar and a book or 2, yes they carry some books too!
EVERYTHING they made looked and smelled sooo delicious it was tough to decide. The things we got were absolutely excellent. We should have bought more. We will be back!
We now understand why we saw many locals popping in and out for their favorite treat as we tried to pick what exactly to get for ourselves. We wanted everything we saw! Seriously.
Highly recommended on all levels. These people really know what good food is and their humble hospitality is very welcoming. We will definitely go there again next time through. Thank you!...
Ā Ā Ā Read more1st of all I had to go back and find a mask in my car because they still require one. 2nd of all whatever you see online that is part of their menu is not what they have in the store. So I walked out empty handed after making a special trip and searching for a mask. So glad I wasted my time.... it had sounded good if what I see and their previous reviews matched what I would have seen in the store. I had my heart set on those loaded hash browns. I guess I would've been more okay of there had been some indication I'd over looked but none. Its more of a grab and go to take home and bake/warm up yourself. All of their products contain meat, so it is not currently vegetarian friendly. Went across to cup and muffin, as I almost did initially, but I was sold on those hashbrowns. Cup and muffin didn't disappoint and I didn't have to get out of my car (although I wouldn't have minded a sit down as this place appeared to be/had been). But yeah won't be back, everything they had to offer for a grab and go looked hella disappointing and I was starving. Worst kind of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I came in on Saturday, I placed a phone order the girl who placed it for me when I called and totally forgot about my order so I had to wait an extra 30 minutes upon watching the girl prep my food. She was continuing to eat her burrito above my burrito While using the same gloves she was prepping my food with touching her food. This place is not very sanitary I already reported them to food and safety of Washington. I highly recommend you to watch the people who are prepping your food. If you decide to go here the owner came out when I made a complaint about it and she was highly aggressive towards me same with the staff I highly do not recommend this place. It has gone downhill ever since they moved to their new location! On top of that they messed up my order. They only gave me half of my gravy. They gave me two bacon burritos when I asked for one sausage and one bacon they canāt get their crap together on top of that. All their staff is high school students they donāt have any adults working here...
