Capitol Bistro — Restaurant in Washington

I normally don't eat breakfast in the hotel restaurants unless it included in my stay, but since the two experiences I had at some of the local diners were a total miss, I figured I would give this place a try and I am so glad I did. This restaurant was a breath of fresh air in terms of atmosphere, service, and food. My server Mario was friendly and very attentive right from the start. I ordered the Veggie Skillet off the limited sized menu rather than doing the buffett style, and I was pleasantly surprised by the nice portion I got and how great it tasted. The home fries that came with the order had some flavor to them. The establishment is very clean, and the service was super fast. I'd agree that the prices are a tad high, including the cost for a cup of coffee, but it was nice that they give you a cup so you can take some with you when you leave. My family and I visited DC to visit the museum of the Bible , Capitol bistro looked like it was the only place that offered a viriety near the museum , so we decided to try it , they have a small station that serves made to order omelets , they also have your typical options like eggs , sausage , bacon , and French toast , they have fruit and yogurt and well as oatmeal , plenty of options for tea and coffee and also pastries , it is your typical hotel breakfast plus a few other options , for the price I didn’t think it was worth it at all at $24.95 per person , even if it was buffet style , please note that I did not stay at the hotel that it is apart of which is the holiday inn , we literally just walked in for the restaurant, and because of this we were asked to pay cash , there were no signs up , and I don’t know if that’s actually true or not but , that’s how we paid , we wouldn’t go back but it is very convenient if your going to the museum...

We ate breakfast here because they had a variety and it was located in our hotel. Myself and my daughter had already decided to order off the menu because the buffet was $25 and we don't eat enough to justify that insane cost. My husband and son chose the buffet. The waitress finally came over with coffee and OJ after they got their food at the buffet and somewhat rudely said "If you're ordering off the menu it's going to be a long wait" Great. We didn't want to wait forever so we went to the buffet. The food was not very good. We stayed at the Doubletree 2 nights before and had a FREE buffet that was so much better than this one was. And Capitol Bistro had no more options than the Doubletree did. The waitress asked if we had vouchers, we didn't. My husband asked if they had a military discount and she did comp one of the buffets.
