Sad excuse for a pizzeria, especially after you read their self-description on the website of being an old time pizza shop run by a guy who has all this pizza knowledge.
Stayed at the Holiday Inn (5/15/2022) down the street and chose this place so I wasn’t subjected to the hotel restaurant food. Questioning my decision…
Seems like they were working off limited ingredients. When I asked them for artichokes on my pizza (ingredient listed in one of their specialty pies), I was told they didn’t have any and was provided a list of only mushrooms, olives and peppers for fresh ingredients. Well, I saw the mushrooms that were put on my pizza and they are 100% canned. With the olives most likely coming from a can as well that leaves the peppers as the only fresh vegetable option available today.
The guy who made my pizza had on one plastic glove, but I saw him use the bare hand to put the stray cheese on the pizza that missed the initial application. I also noticed that he kept that same glove on the whole time I was there, even after ringing up customers, climbing a stool to pull down pizza boxes and making other orders.
As for the taste of the pizza…. Meh. Sauce is salty, almost like they cook it first and it’s over-reduced. The pizza also could have used a few more minutes in the oven, it was floppy to say the least.
The most offensive part of the whole thing is that a single pizza costs 30 bucks. I would recommend other options if staying in...
Read moreMy own pizza is a solid establishment. Owned and operated by an older couple they are more than willing to go beyond the call to give good and proper service. I had the good fortune to go on holiday in D.C. and stumble upon this fine establishment. They bare much resemblance to a road side establishment that graduated to a fixed location. The whole pizza I ordered was promptly assembled and set to cook. In the meantime I was treated to snacks and good conversation. Don't let the the slightly disorderly appearance of this establishment set you aside. These are hard working people dedicated to providing a delicious and visually appealing product in the most prompt and efficient way they can muster. I whole heartedly give my praise and admiration to this establishment. I wish that I was a local so that I could give them my regular business.
Thank you "My Own Pizza". You are one of the finest small businesses of any category that I have had the privilege to patronize. Keep up...
Read moreMy family had a great Sunday and went to this pizza place to feed the hungry kids. After paying, the kids ate the pizza in the car while I was driving home. They said the bottom of the pizza clutter was very burned, and they couldn't eat it, so I checked. One child took off the cluster, threw it away, and ate only the cheese. When I turned the back of the pizza and saw that it was so black, I told the kids not to eat it. Would you be able to feed this blackened pizza to your children? If I had checked under the pizza when I picked it up, I wouldn't have bought it. Since I was already on my way home, I couldn't file a claim, so I came home, took a picture, and threw it away. I'm so disappointed this shop!!!
I wish people who make and sell pizza would think about the health of their customers rather than just thinking about money. Burnt food...
