I am going to be completely honest, I am not from this area but I come from an area where cafes aren’t necessarily the best, yet I will do my best to give any kind of chance. My family and I recently visited this cafe and my sister attempted to order an iced latte. First, the cashier didn’t seem to put the iced coffee into the register the correct way I ordered because when the manager came out she told her to make the coffee the way my sister originally asked. Second, the coffee tasted horrendous, the whole family tried it and it was awful, keep in mind we all are a family that loves coffee and dark coffee, we love to support cafes, but this was disgusting. Third, my sister tried to ask for a refund but was only offered store credit even after telling the manager she really did not want the drink remade. The manager pretty much forced it down her throat to accept a remade drink. She got the remade drink and it still tasted awful. The ingredients she used are the exact same ingredients we use at home, the syrup itself is only $5, she was charged $7 for a horrible iced coffee. I work in a restaurant so this situation could’ve easily been handled. The service wasn’t great because it was so rushed and the food itself wasn’t great. Please do not come here unless you want sewer tasting coffee and outdated ingredients as...
Read moreI used to enjoy eating here. The food was ok but significantly overpriced. The service on the other hand is inexcusable the owner/management staff are very rude and make you feel rushed with the food line method of service. They impose a minimum purchase for credit card transactions. After purchasing food I asked for utensils and was declined them with the manager stating “I don’t remember seeing you here”. A very stingy business with even shakier morals. I will be sure to tell friends and coworkers to avoid eating here and give their hard earned money to a place that values their business. A great alternative is Casey’s Cafe located at 355 E St SW. Judging by some previous posts this review may be seen and illicit a response from management. So I will make myself clear. I am sure that I was at the Atrium Cafe located at 400 Virginia Ave SW next to the Department of Forensic Science building and am not mistaken.
UPDATE: I very much appreciate the management staffs standard business...
Read moreRoutinely, the Atrium Cafe is a great place and I have visited it often as I work in the area. I primarily visit it for breakfast related items. Unfortunately, today I ran into something I felt needs to be at least mentioned in a review. I have seen, and at times have had, fresh baked items from this location - but this morning the cinnamon roll was clearly old when I went to have it a short bit ago. Displaying and selling old bakery items as fresh is so below the level of service I expect from here, it became noteworthy in a negative way. I would not say avoid this cafe based on this, but be wary and perhaps check (or ask!) the bakery items before you leave the location. They usually do better, and I have come to expect quality bakery...
