I love barbeque. I used to love Dickies, and as recently as 2019 this Dickies used to be awesome but it hasn't been good for a long while now, and unfortunately is even worse now.
My wife and I saw that this location was under new ownership so we decided to give it one last try again, and this is the last time we will give this Dickies a shot. Its time to close it up folks.
Service: A restaurant needs to have more than 3 employees on a busy Friday night at dinner time, it just does. We arrived at 5:30 to the kitchen already slammed with mobile orders. No problem, we get it and we're happy to wait! Staff were friendly but seemed to barely know how everything functioned, and we tried to use a coupon that gave the cashier fits with the register. There also seemed to be no real leadership taking charge to effectively bang out orders, and instead it seemed like everyone was working on everything at once leading to a lot of chaos and confusion. Adding to the chaos one of the employees had her phone out in the prep area and it was ringing like crazy, causing her to stress out and start cussing at it. I'm not a prude and don't care about the swearing, but I do care about the cell phone on the counter being booped with a gloved hand between handling food.
But, we got our food fairly quickly (the first time, more later...) so that is a plus!
Food: We ordered a brisket plate with fries, a brisket baked potato and a pulled pork kids meal. The brisket and pulled pork were cool when we got it (they cut and plated it immediately before sides were done) and the baked potato wasn't done being baked hours ago when they did the batch, and wasn't fully hot from the microwave just prior to serving. The fries were good and hot and the meat tasted fine but getting cool food at premium prices never feels good. Thankfully all our food was correct unlike some other reviews.
One last note about food, one of the main reasons we decided to try out the new ownership is because we thought they might bring the onion tanglers back which the online menu says are available. They are not, and they do not have them.
Because my wife's potato wasn't cooked through, she ordered a regular meat plate to go for her dinner and this one took over 20 minutes to get out. Finally the cashier had to demand another employee finish our order since we were actually in the store instead of working on the mobile order he was still trying to hack away at, again there was a lot of order prioritization issues.
Atmosphere/Misc: As I said earlier we have been coming to this Dickies for years. Back then they had a BBQ sauce bar, an ice cream machine, a nice clean dining room and some good tunes playing. None of this is true anymore.
Half the dining room is devoid of tables now. The serve-yourself sauces are gone. The ice cream machine is long gone. The soda machine is broken in several spots and was running low on syrup for a couple sodas. There was no music going and the only sound was coming from the stressed out staff trying to wade their way through orders. I'm sure the bathroom would have been in rough shape had we looked.
Overall none of this is the staffs fault, and the blame rests squarely on ownership who either has no idea how to effectively run a successful restaurant, or doesn't care enough to give it an honest go. Regardless of the real reason, it is time for this location to pack it in now instead of dying a slow death of incompetence, apathy, and likely a lawsuit of some sort.
Very disappointed with our trip today as we had high hopes for...
Read moreWe made the grave mistake of selecting Dickeyâs catering for our sonâs 1st birthday party. We told our 30 guests ahead of time to expect great BBQ food at the celebration and everyone was really excited.
We ordered a week in advance, received an order confirmation email, and were charged the full amount. We selected a pickup time an hour before the party started so that it would be fresh. We checked our order tracker the day of the event and it showed the order go through the motions of 1. Order in the cue, 2. Smokin to perfection, and 3. Ready for pickup.
You can imagine our shock when we went to pickup the order and the building was locked with the lights off with no signage saying why. When you drive by the location nothing indicates it is closed (on the contrary the marquee sign out front says it is open) and google and yelp lists the location as open, so we were very confused. We desperately called every number we could find on the website over and over for help and nothing went through.
Finally, a half hour AFTER our pickup time and a half hour before our guests were set to arrive, we got a call from someone working at the Spokane Valley location. He said he âjust saw our orderâ and that the location we ordered from was closed for renovations. We were given a slight apology and told we could either pickup the food from the Valley location (which would be an hour and a half round trip drive) or cancel our order and have no food for our guests. I asked for the food to be delivered from the alternative location, which in my mind was a fair compromise considering the errors on Dickeyâs end, and was told no. I then reluctantly agreed to pickup the food from the other location (which would result in me missing the beginning half of my sonâs birthday party) and then the worker back tracked and informed me he didnât even have enough meat on hand at the Valley location to fill the order. He just gave me an âIâm sorryâ and said he would cancel our order.
As guests started to arrive we had to scramble to plan and grocery shop for an alternative meal option that could feed 30 people. This was our first childâs first birthday party, a huge moment in our lives, and we spent the majority of it in the kitchen cooking while our guests waited to be fed. It was embarrassing and we feel like we missed out on enjoying this important event with our son, something we wonât ever get back.
To make it even worse, we entered this feedback into Dickeyâs website feedback form 2 weeks ago (a week after the event) and have yet to receive a response. On top of the we STILL have not been refunded the money we spent that resulted in no food. There were so many chances along the way for Dickeyâs to prevent this disaster from getting worse and worse yet they havenât made a single effort to remedy the situation which makes the experience that more disappointing.
This establishment is a scam on so many levels; from accepting orders at a closed location, to falsifying orders tracking information, not monitoring feedback forms, and biggest of all keeping money for unfulfilled orders. It is in your best interest to stay far...
Read moreIf I could leave a zero stsr review I would. I ordered dinner for my family On May 17th 2024 for delivery. This being my first time ever order and or eating at this establishment I would assume the information on their website is accurate. I paid for the food and a service fee and a delivery fee plus tip, and was given an estimated delivery time of 645pm. Mimd you there is also a trcker given via email. Food says out for delivery 715 rolls around and still no food so I call and speak with Amin (the assistant manager) who says oh we have half of it done, and ohhhh it's for delivery? We don't do that! Excuse me? Your website says you do. He said he had no knowledge that their website provided that service and wasn't sure why it gave me that option. He also said he's waiting for the other Brisket to be done since his store manager Cory took theirs to the valley location. At that point he told he would also have to remake some of our food since it's been sitting and no one there had the courtesy to call me and let me know they don't deliver even though I paid for delivery through their website. I then asked for a refund. Amin said he didn't know how but his Manger does but she is at the valley location. He then told me that their phones are not working so gave me the manager's personal number. I'm assuming because he was confused as to why I was calling his personal number when I did call the manager of the valley store. So when I did call, he said no Cory isn't here? She's on her way back to the North location. Even though I don't even think that was the truth to begin with. The valley location manager was also very unprofessional. He proceeded to tell me how overworked he is and how many hours he works and how he has to sleep on the carpet at the store. Due to somebody needing to be there when meat smokes and how a customer took pictures of him sleeping, thinking, he was drunk and how they also made a complaint about some girl eating food off the back counter. I mean, even when I called the North store back the next day to try to talk to corey, amine said she was at the valley location again and i told him Hey I still have not heard from your manager. He said oh Corey told me she spoke to yesterday.I told him no, she did not. He then proceeded to tell me how much of a big liar she is and she lies all the time. This isn't even everything. I am completely blown away with how unprofessional both establishments are and the people working there. I will NEVER be a customer and I WIll let everyone know the experience me and my family had. Still today 05/22/24 still have not heard back from either manager nor their customer service line. Absolutely disappointed this place is still...
