The ice cream was ok but the service was poor. I think the customer experience would be vastly improved with some employee training. Of the two young people staffing the counter, the best I could say is that one was sort of nice and the other clearly wanted to be somewhere else. Both times we visited, not a single table was clean. That’s not an exaggeration. I checked each table hoping to find a clean spot for my group. Most simply had containers and used napkins left behind by previous customers, easily cleaned up with little effort. I settled for a table with dried out ice cream stains. All the other customers were seated in the adjoining business “Pop Pop Bottle Shop” which seemed to be kept cleaner.
Both visits were nearly identical: store employees were speaking to young people their age whom we at first took to be customers. To their credit, they disengaged when we showed up so that we could be served. But no greeting was given either time and they just stood and stared at us until we started ordering. Right after serving us, the employees returned to chatting with their friends and the tables remained in need of tidying up. I don’t like to leave critical reviews based on a single visit. One such experience I’d disregard as an off-day but two nearly identically sad visits make me wonder about the tepid service...
Read moreCame here with my husband and daughter for the first time. Waited for almost an hour for one order of fish and chips. When we asked about it, they said they didn’t have an order for it. Funny thing is, they gave us our drinks for our meals AND they texted us the receipt. They helped 5 families that walked in AFTER us with big orders. We watched as everyone got served before us. Everyone that was served was caucasian. We’re of polynesian descent. Idk if that was a factor but we couldnt help but noticed that was the only difference out of all the customers that walked in. When we asked for a refund they said they didnt charge us and gave us the food they made. How is it on the house when they already charged us AND they gave us the receipt in which they claimed they couldn’t find? To me it sounded like it was all a bs excuse for them not to serve us as they did the other customers that came in. It made us feel as if they didnt want us to be there or dine in. Since I am being honest, I will admit, the food there was decent. Take it from an actual “island queen”, next time do better. This was not “island” quality service. This isn’t how we do it on the islands. But if this is how you do it on Vashon, then take out “island” and call it...
Read moreI had coffee-flavored ice cream, since that is one of my favorite flavors, and let me tell you: amazing! It was silky, rich in flavor, caffeinated, and I loved each of the few minutes it took to lick that kid's scoop down. All for only a few dollars! I saw that you can have a milkshake and make it into a malt for extra cost, so I think I would like to try that next time. Hopefully they will have the coffee by the time I return, but if not, that's fine! Their other flavors will be just as brilliant. I tried butter pecan (incredible) and toasted coconut as well.
The atmosphere is very cute - love the wall art and the glitter in the tables, and best of all they have classic arcade games lining the walls, like Bubble Bobble, Street Fighter, TMNT Turtles in Time, Dr. Mario... It seems like it would be a fun place to hang out for an hour or two, eat ice cream, and play with friends (or a date!). For legal adults, I imagine this can be done while also having a drink or two from the Pop Pop Bottle Shop next door; the two shops seem connected. It wasn't open at the time.
Definitely want to come back next time I'm...
