My first experience with Han Palace is in Tysons corner and was not disappointed at all but compared to other dimsum place, it's kinda pricey but the ambiance and the taste of the food somewhat justifies it.
For this location, they introduced the All you can eat dimsum which I thought was worth it so I went ahead and tried it. I went there around 730 pm. You can tell some of the food's quality is not that good anymore maybe because of the time but I never had this problem with Tysons corner location. Some of the food looks it's past their holding or serving time that you can tell the quality is not that good anymore.
This is DC so the space is tight but still has an ambiance, it's cozy but I imagined if their half full capacity then the place would be too crowded already, it's just my imagination though.
Parking, again this is DC. It's a street parking so it's a night mare and I parked in a park near the metro station and when I was going back to my car, there's 4 men who is drunk and was about to fight so i hurriedly got into my car and left. Not a good experience.
Price, for the All you can eat price compared to the array of dimsums on which you can pick, I think for me it's not worth it. Dimsums can be a heavy food already and taking 2-3 selections and you will get full right away.
And lastly, I ate by myself and was still charged with a gratuity. I always give tips whether take out or dine in and was surprised about the gratuity, so I didn't left any tip when I could've given more.
Conclusion, I will still go to Han Palace but in Tysons corner.
I was there...
Read moreI really tried to like this place but it fell very short of a complete experience. We had reservations at 8pm and we decided to do the B options which gives us a 2 hour limit to order what we liked.
While I understand this place is “soft opening” the whole experience felt rushed and unorganized. Around 9pm I would see the staff turn away to go orders and diners because the kitchen closes at 930pm. This is something this establishment should display in the forefront.
The food itself was pretty decent. Unfortunately the dimsum we ordered was not on par with other establishments. The famous soup dumpling that every dimsum place does fell very short by being cold with the “soup” part being nonexistent.
While the waiter tells us about the kitchen closing soon, a couple minutes later we decide to order. There are 3-4 staff members looking at us and tells us to kitchen is closed and is no longer serving food. I tell them you told us 930pm and it was only 912pm. They proceeded to take our order but tells us the majority of things we tried to get were “out” or that they couldn’t make. The fact we had to negotiate our final dishes was completely unprofessional.
Last bit of information to spread would be to double check your final check. We were charged for a la cart items when things should of...
Read moreThe food is okay, but nothing I'd come back for. The service is spotty and curt. And the prices are high and the wait for a table was over an hour. Not worth the wait or the price.
The food is average at best, but often below average. The shrimp dumplings are filled with shrimp paste, not whole shrimp as they should be. The lamb dumplings didn't taste of lamb. Many dishes were very oily, like the scallion pancake and the lo mein. The salt and pepper tofu was good, but in many pieces the tofu melted out during cooking, leaving nothing but bread. The crispy walnut shrimp was not crispy, because it was not fried as it should have been. The roast pork and roast duck were two of the best dishes. Even the soda was flat.
The servers are are not friendly, not helpful, and miss many of the orders. We ordered Peking duck and fried rice, but never got them. We had to order our dessert twice, because the first order never showed up. They don't even check to see if your teapot needs refills. There are no apologies for any of these lapses. And in spite of the mistakes, an 18% tip was automatically added to our bill.
The space is nice, but very small. There are less than ten tables. With so few tables, you would think they could get the orders right.
The food and service just don't justify the price...
