In order to review this place the rating system needs Zero Stars, in fact it could use Negative Ratings. (this place needs a bar rescue)
I attended a party for a friend who was retiring (the cost was $15 for each person) with 19 other people. We arrived at 4:30 (the appointed time) things were not setup except signs that said reserved on top of dirty tables. We were told to go to the outside bar as they were not ready yet... No kidding.
The Establishment, They call themselves an entertainment and Bar with 32 beers and exotic cocktails with pinball and games.... Hmm when I went to the bar the bartender without a word tossed a drink menu onto the sticky bar where you could see the marks of many glass bottoms that have never been wiped up. After peeling the menu off the sticky and dirty bar I noticed about 18 beers on the menu I selected an interesting IPA it was good but it was served at about 45 degrees lots of foam and not very quenching standing in an outdoor bar @ 81 degrees with 87% humidity. By the way... What pinball games they only have three very worn foosball tables and a bunch of well worn board games on the wall.
The Service. When the bartender put a drink on the bar there were NO Coasters and even the wet glasses tend to stick to the dirty bar. When I asked if the beers listed were all they had the bartender didn't say a word she just pointed to the beer menu.
When our 4:30 party was seated at 5PM there were no setups (knives, forks or napkins) one guy walked out with three stacks of 5 small plates (for 20 people) then another person came over and put 15 glasses of water in random spots on the table. 10 minutes later three people came out each carrying a tray of finger food (Wings with ranch dressing a teaspoon for the dressing, Chicken Tenders with Honey mustard and nothing to put honey mustard on your plate When asking for a spoon the person brought out a soup ladle, a hard bread with chopped tomatoes, basil and sprinkled with mozzarella cheese)
The Waiter for our table never brought out setups until I went to the bar and grabbed about 30 napkins for folks at the table. Then he brought out 5 setups, I asked him to bring more but it took another 5 minutes to find them.
Overall impression: Stay Away, Go somewhere else. Even McDonalds is cleaner and has better service and we could have gotten well fed for the $300.00...
Read moreI originally gave this restaurant a 4 star rating because of decent food and beer, combined with a semi attentive wait staff. The past two visits have earned it a 1 star rating, with tonight sealing the deal. They were out of fully half of the beer that was on the menu. I have an exceptional memory, and when I forget the 12th beer on a 24 beer menu that is no longer offered, you should update the freaking menu. Instead of watching tv and talking with fellow servers, you should see that three of the 5 people at a table are holding empty beer glasses. The worst part, there were only about 15 customers in the whole restaurant.
If I have to go to the bar three times to put in a drink order, when I have a waitress, there is something seriously wrong. I've never had as inattentive service as I did tonight. We were handed the checks without asking, 30 minutes before closing, then told, "Don't be in a rush to leave." What!? Don't give me the bill unrequested unless you want me leave.
This place is atrocious. Don't come here unless you want mediocre service, and an automatic 20% added o your bill for the pleasure of basically serving yourself. I've been here 5 times, and each time had gotten incrementally worse with tonight sealing the deal.
If you like serving yourself while paying someone 20% of your total bill who spends more time watching the tv than asking If you want another beer, then go here. If you like waving your arms frantically when you want something, then go here.
One last anecdote, our table knocked an empty glass ( empty for 15 minutes) on the floor, breaking it. Literally, no wait staff noticed because they were busy watching tv. The broken glass will probably still be there if you decide that you hate good service, and pay this abhorrence of a restaurant/bar a visit.
Meh food, Good beer selection on paper that is only about half as good in reality, atrocious service, and decent location add up to a thoroughly disappointing restaurant.
I'll...
Read moreAfter a morning spent exploring the historic sites in Washington D.C., my friend and I decided to cross over into Arlington to see what it had to offer. Our wanderings brought us to HIGHLINE RxR on Crystal Drive just as our stomachs were starting to rumble.
The vibe at HIGHLINE RxR was immediately inviting, with its airy, industrial chic decor that somehow felt both trendy and cozy. We were greeted warmly upon entering and shown to a table by the window, offering a great view for some people-watching.
I tried their house-made lemonade, which turned out to be refreshingly tart and not too sweet — a perfect daytime drink.
For lunch, we decided to share a couple of dishes. Noticing a vegan section on the menu, we opted for the vegan roasted veggie tacos and a quinoa and avocado salad. The tacos were served with a smoky chipotle sauce that added just the right amount of spice, and the tacos themselves were stuffed with a satisfying mix of seasoned bell peppers, onions, zucchini, and roasted corn. The salad was equally delightful, featuring crisp greens tossed with quinoa, chunks of ripe avocado, cherry tomatoes, and a light citrus vinaigrette.
Throughout our meal, the service was impeccable. Our server was attentive without being overbearing and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we had a great experience. He was knowledgeable about the menu and kindly pointed out other vegan-friendly options to consider for future visits.
We lingered a while after eating, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and the bustle of the surrounding area. It was the perfect spot to unwind and refuel without having to worry about finding suitable menu options.
Visiting HIGHLINE RxR was definitely a highlight of our day in Arlington. It offered a welcoming space to enjoy a delicious meal and excellent service. We left feeling well-fed and appreciated, already discussing when we...
