Me and my fiancé went here on a Saturday Night around 1100pm. Let me start by saying the food…AMAZING. Service….ABSOLUTELY TRASH. When we got seated in the back behind a fridge close to the outdoor order window all we seemed to catch was a breeze of attention from the cold air. After 15 minutes of waiting, the waiter finally came over to let us know he would bring us some water. But the cups he brought had the LIPS of someone else’s on them. So we couldn’t even have water to drink. He eventually returns to place our order. When placing our order, every single thing we said we wanted they were out of, and instead of him just giving us a list of everything they were out of , he just sat there and let us play the guessing game. Finally our order is placed, now we knew there would be a wait, but didn’t foresee a HOUR PLUS wait for our food happening. As we are observing, we see our server rushing from out the kitchen, and then hear and see a big bucket of silverware hit the floor. Who knows if he actually picked them up and took them to be cleaned??
I guess They could see we were cold and decided to move us to the front of the restaurant , in the window where it was even more colder where our appetizer was waiting ( 30 minutes to receive). As soon as we sat, another couple sat, and placed their order IMMEDIATELY. Here’s the upsetting thing, they got their food before my fiancé received his!!!! We are a hour plus in the restaurant now. And only have 2 of the 4 things we ordered. We were given food with NO silverware or napkins, and then we never even received our extra ordered side dish. I asked to speak to the manager, and she literally sat in my face and DEFLECTED. She put ALL the blame on the server stating that she “gave him napkins, it’s not her fault if he didn’t give them to us, etc etc.” and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to rectify the situation. She couldn’t even say oh I’m sorry let me grab you guys some silverware and napkins. Not a single person apologized to us. We weren’t looking for free food, we were fine with paying even though we didn’t get to enjoy our food or ourselves. We just wanted to be able to enjoy our date night and it was a huge fail! So finally annoyed and just ready to leave because it’s freezing, we have no utensils to eat with, and they clearly don’t care about our being, we ask for the check. He then brings the machine and says a price, but shows us no receipt, I had to ask to see, just to see that he charged us for stuff we didn’t even order! We were disgusted, and disappointed. Service like this is UNACCEPTABLE, if I could have just paid the cooks, I would have been happy too, because their food is the ONLY reason that you all get...
Read moreJerk at Nite was a lovely experience in the city.
To set the scene, it's on a corner unit on the H street block, and there's a to-go station that is outdoors.
Parking was decent, I parked in the neighborhood and my friend found parking across the street.
There is not really a fleshed out waiting area, so considering the busy nature of the restaurant, you're going to be a bit awkward, either waiting in your car, waiting in the cold, or standing up in the limited space in the restaurant.
Our server was quick to share her perspectives on the dishes we inquired about, and showed pride in how jerk at nite differentiated themselves from other food spots.
Now, to the meat and potatoes (pun intended)
Me and a friend both got the tropical punch, along with a water. The tropical punch had a layered taste to it- you could definitely taste the passion fruit, mango and more. For both my friend and I, we agreed it was a little watery. It felt like either the result of a syrup based drink, or, a jungle juice type drink where there's ice in the jug, and it melts over time. I didn't think it was too big of a deal, as the degree of watery-ness didn't ruin it. 5/10
The Mac & Cheese is an extremely affordable appetizer for the size of dish that you receive. There were 5 people in our party, and we were easily able to split two dishes of the Mac & cheese at $13 a piece. It was extremely seasoned (in a good way), and it didn't have a nasty consistency about it, which is my complaint with a lot of Mac & cheese's. 10/10.
The jerk chicken pasta was seasoned TO THE GODS. The sauce was prevalent, but not overwhelming, and the cheese was a nice touch. There even was a kick of spice to each bite. 8/10.
I didn't order the tacos, however, the tortilla has a nice char on it, which I appreciate. It didn't fall apart with each bite, and there were enough ingredients within each taco that you're getting a combination of flavors with each bite.
Be careful- there was a 18% gratuity included automatically on our check, and our server didn't go out of her way to point it out. One of our friends ended up paying $10 extra, on top of the service charge. That and the tropical punch was the only reason I give Jerk at Nite on H...
Read moreI visited here from out of town on 8/25/23 around 1:40 pm. The dining area was closed on Fridays me and my co worker were told so we stood in the hot sun and ordered our Oxtail plates for 24.99. The white young man who rang me up was rudely interrupted by a black female who was handing out the few orders that were ready and said "why you selling oxtails and we don't have none" he then said apologetically I'm sorry I forgot or I didn't know. So he then had to do a total of 3 refunds a man that was ahead of us, my Co worker and myself. There was some confusion with that so he had another girl come up and help. My co worker recieved her refund first and the money went back to her account within like a minute or 2. While mine was processing we witnessed the rude girl yelling back at an Uber person who was clearly frustrated because he was waiting for food. The girl was dsrk skin with natural like hair in a puff ball and all she seemed to be doing was ordering people around and standing. So as I stepped aside the cashier apologized I told him it was ok because he didn't know. I stepped in the somewhat shade under the tree on the sidewalk to check my account and see if my money was refunded and it showed a deduction then a pending credit so I left feeling assured I would get my money. We went over to Jam Doung (great service and the food was exceptional) Today is day 7 and I have not been given a refund. I left a poor review in my email and someone contacted me apologizing and stated 3 to 7 days for a refund. I replied back on yesterday sending screenshots of my account where I paid them $31.63 but it has not been credited back and I have received no response. Considering the prices of the food, and the unbearable heat or weather in general there need to be tents and fans up while people wait. Also better staff that is customer friendly and knowledgeable would be key for this place because based on my family telling me to go here I know the food was good but never got to see for myself. I truly believe that my refund was cancelled once I left and didn't question anyone because me and my co worker have the...
