Me and my fiancé went here on a Saturday Night around 1100pm. Let me start by saying the food…AMAZING. Service….ABSOLUTELY TRASH. When we got seated in the back behind a fridge close to the outdoor order window all we seemed to catch was a breeze of attention from the cold air. After 15 minutes of waiting, the waiter finally came over to let us know he would bring us some water. But the cups he brought had the LIPS of someone else’s on them. So we couldn’t even have water to drink. He eventually returns to place our order. When placing our order, every single thing we said we wanted they were out of, and instead of him just giving us a list of everything they were out of , he just sat there and let us play the guessing game. Finally our order is placed, now we knew there would be a wait, but didn’t foresee a HOUR PLUS wait for our food happening. As we are observing, we see our server rushing from out the kitchen, and then hear and see a big bucket of silverware hit the floor. Who knows if he actually picked them up and took them to be cleaned??

I guess They could see we were cold and decided to move us to the front of the restaurant , in the window where it was even more colder where our appetizer was waiting ( 30 minutes to receive). As soon as we sat, another couple sat, and placed their order IMMEDIATELY. Here’s the upsetting thing, they got their food before my fiancé received his!!!! We are a hour plus in the restaurant now. And only have 2 of the 4 things we ordered. We were given food with NO silverware or napkins, and then we never even received our extra ordered side dish. I asked to speak to the manager, and she literally sat in my face and DEFLECTED. She put ALL the blame on the server stating that she “gave him napkins, it’s not her fault if he didn’t give them to us, etc etc.” and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to rectify the situation. She couldn’t even say oh I’m sorry let me grab you guys some silverware and napkins. Not a single person apologized to us. We weren’t looking for free food, we were fine with paying even though we didn’t get to enjoy our food or ourselves. We just wanted to be able to enjoy our date night and it was a huge fail! So finally annoyed and just ready to leave because it’s freezing, we have no utensils to eat with, and they clearly don’t care about our being, we ask for the check. He then brings the machine and says a price, but shows us no receipt, I had to ask to see, just to see that he charged us for stuff we didn’t even order! We were disgusted, and disappointed. Service like this is UNACCEPTABLE, if I could have just paid the cooks, I would have been happy too, because their food is the ONLY reason that you all get...

Jerk at Nite was a lovely experience in the city.

To set the scene, it's on a corner unit on the H street block, and there's a to-go station that is outdoors.

Parking was decent, I parked in the neighborhood and my friend found parking across the street.

There is not really a fleshed out waiting area, so considering the busy nature of the restaurant, you're going to be a bit awkward, either waiting in your car, waiting in the cold, or standing up in the limited space in the restaurant.

Our server was quick to share her perspectives on the dishes we inquired about, and showed pride in how jerk at nite differentiated themselves from other food spots.

Now, to the meat and potatoes (pun intended)

Me and a friend both got the tropical punch, along with a water. The tropical punch had a layered taste to it- you could definitely taste the passion fruit, mango and more. For both my friend and I, we agreed it was a little watery. It felt like either the result of a syrup based drink, or, a jungle juice type drink where there's ice in the jug, and it melts over time. I didn't think it was too big of a deal, as the degree of watery-ness didn't ruin it. 5/10

The Mac & Cheese is an extremely affordable appetizer for the size of dish that you receive. There were 5 people in our party, and we were easily able to split two dishes of the Mac & cheese at $13 a piece. It was extremely seasoned (in a good way), and it didn't have a nasty consistency about it, which is my complaint with a lot of Mac & cheese's. 10/10.

The jerk chicken pasta was seasoned TO THE GODS. The sauce was prevalent, but not overwhelming, and the cheese was a nice touch. There even was a kick of spice to each bite. 8/10.

I didn't order the tacos, however, the tortilla has a nice char on it, which I appreciate. It didn't fall apart with each bite, and there were enough ingredients within each taco that you're getting a combination of flavors with each bite.

Be careful- there was a 18% gratuity included automatically on our check, and our server didn't go out of her way to point it out. One of our friends ended up paying $10 extra, on top of the service charge. That and the tropical punch was the only reason I give Jerk at Nite on H...

I visited here from out of town on 8/25/23 around 1:40 pm. The dining area was closed on Fridays me and my co worker were told so we stood in the hot sun and ordered our Oxtail plates for 24.99. The white young man who rang me up was rudely interrupted by a black female who was handing out the few orders that were ready and said "why you selling oxtails and we don't have none" he then said apologetically I'm sorry I forgot or I didn't know. So he then had to do a total of 3 refunds a man that was ahead of us, my Co worker and myself. There was some confusion with that so he had another girl come up and help. My co worker recieved her refund first and the money went back to her account within like a minute or 2. While mine was processing we witnessed the rude girl yelling back at an Uber person who was clearly frustrated because he was waiting for food. The girl was dsrk skin with natural like hair in a puff ball and all she seemed to be doing was ordering people around and standing. So as I stepped aside the cashier apologized I told him it was ok because he didn't know. I stepped in the somewhat shade under the tree on the sidewalk to check my account and see if my money was refunded and it showed a deduction then a pending credit so I left feeling assured I would get my money. We went over to Jam Doung (great service and the food was exceptional) Today is day 7 and I have not been given a refund. I left a poor review in my email and someone contacted me apologizing and stated 3 to 7 days for a refund. I replied back on yesterday sending screenshots of my account where I paid them $31.63 but it has not been credited back and I have received no response. Considering the prices of the food, and the unbearable heat or weather in general there need to be tents and fans up while people wait. Also better staff that is customer friendly and knowledgeable would be key for this place because based on my family telling me to go here I know the food was good but never got to see for myself. I truly believe that my refund was cancelled once I left and didn't question anyone because me and my co worker have the...

I had ordered take out at the take out counter. I saw when one of the side boards fell on the head of a customer and all that was said was sorry to him commenced by yelling at delivery drivers. I waited over 40 minutes for a side of rice. The staff were a bit rude when detailing the policy for no refunds when I had inquired about it due to the excessive wait times. I think that in the way the staff handles the take out counter for to go orders and those placed through couriers like door dash and Uber eats needs to be more streamlined. I also think that the staff at the to go counter need to be trained a bit better when it comes to handling customer service and long wait times. Some things that I saw which I think is uncalled for is arguing with one of the delivery drivers because he’s been waiting a long time or how they manage when they are behind orders. I think if would have been helpful if customers are notified if orders are paused or if the lines are labeled so people know where to stand for placing orders versus pick up. And even potentially a separate section just for the courier delivery companies to completely streamline the process overall. I’m sure the food is good however the long wait times for a small aide order of rice and not so positive customer service has overshadowed this experience to say the least. I would love to come back here and try out the food for a sit down order one day as I have heard the food is good. I had the rice and peace with a side of oxtail sauce and I will say right now based off of what I tasted, I was not too impressed but maybe it’s a one off. The rice was a bit mushy/stickier than what usually rice and peas should be and there wasn’t much coconut milk flavor in the rice and peas but maybe they don’t make it that way? I was happy to see slice of yellow pepper and a bay leaf in the rice though.

I visited Jerk at Nite on H Street DC, and overall, it was a great experience. The food was delicious, particularly I ordered the salmon, rice and peas, plantains and mac and cheese. While there were a few minor flaws, the overall quality of the food made up for it. The highlight was the salmon. It was moist, tender, and bursting with flavor. The chefs at Jerk at Nite definitely know how to prepare a perfect salmon dish. The combination of the succulent salmon and the aromatic spices truly made it a standout. The rice and peas served alongside the salmon were good, alone the rice and peas would have just been blah. It complemented the salmon beautifully and added an extra layer of texture and taste. The mac and cheese…mmm…mmm good, nothing more to say about that! However, there was a slight disappointment with the plantains. While they were part of the dish, they were unfortunately a little hard and dry. This inconsistency in texture was a letdown, especially when compared to the excellence of the salmon. It would be great if the restaurant could ensure that the plantains are cooked to perfection, as they play an important role in completing the meal. In terms of service, the experience was pleasant. You can walk up to the side and order your food, which adds a casual and convenient touch to the dining experience. I waited about 18 minutes for my order, which although not lightning-fast, was reasonable considering the preparation and cooking time required for freshly made dishes. The staff were friendly and accommodating, which added to the overall positive impression. One downside worth mentioning is the challenge of finding parking nearby. This is a common issue on H street though. Despite this minor inconvenience, I would definitely visit Jerk at Nite on H street again. The excellent salmon, makes it a place worth returning to.
