Not a great swim class if you have children. Here are the reasons:
Your child never gets the same coach week to week...ever. How do you expect your child to put their head under water when a complete stranger is holding them? You reallyl expect a child under 5 to do that???
They get very nitpicky on the form. I want my kids to learn to swim not compete in the Olympics. My 6-year-old was on the same level for 8 months because she could not straighten her toes. She was in a class with kids 2 years younger than her. Yet thanks to many vacations with pools, she could swim the length of the poll unlike kids many levels higher than her. It really sapped her confidence around swimming. I have spoken to many parents who also felt this frustration.
Want to cancel? Want to take a break for awhile? Prepare to go to battle for your money. I had to have MULTIPULE calls and emails to try to rectify this. Even though I had email confirmation that my kids were out they still continue to charge me. I had to dispute the charge on my credit card.
They a good system in terms of levels, it is just so poorly executed that it is not worth the VERY expensive fee...
Read moreI have been a loyal Old City member since the beginning and can not give enough positive praise to Sean, Erin, the whole coaching staff, and the community at Old City! I genuinely feel a part of something bigger at Old City and the level of caring from the coaches to the members is apparent in every class I attend. I have never been a member of a gym for more than a few months until Old City and could not imagine my life in DC without this crew. The coaches are amazing at reinforcing proper form and care about members to coach you to a place where you can challenge yourself with safe boundaries and support. Moreover, at what gym will you find a coach who calls and texts you to hold you accountable for your health. If you think you want to improve yourself in a place where you are cared for, Old City is the...
Read moreI've been doing Crossfit for over 2.5 years and have been a member at old city crossfit for the past year. While the physical space may seem small and unassuming compared to other boxes in the area, the coaches are creative with the space so that you always have enough room to do the WOD. Old City is low pressure for a Crossfit box, and really tries to create a sense of community. Old City also has unique scheduling with classes on the half hour before and after work, and with classes like yoga and gymnastics. Even with the low pressure atmosphere, I've seen incredible gains in my overall fitness level and crossfit skills. I...
