I want to write a five star review for Lyaman's Tavern in Washington D.C. in the style of anyhony bourdain. This was just the bar I was looking for. A small hole in the wall just outside the confines of D.C. a place my friend and I chose to hide our faces for a short time while we gathered our thoughts from two days at the state captiol. We wanted a few Red Bulls and Vodkas but red bull wasn't on the minue. The bartender did her majic and made sure that we got what we needed. Shots of vodka were tall and the people minded their own business. This is a local spot full of pinball arcades and things that remind you of a simpler time. The clinentel is standard young crowd and it is LGBT friendly, if that is something that you are looking for. Parking was easiy to fiend because this little gem is tucked away into a small neihborhood. Lyaman's Tavern, a hidden gem nestled just outside the buzz of Washington D.C., is the kind of place that sneaks up on you and refuses to let go. My friend and I, weary from two intense days at the state capitol, found solace in its unassuming embrace—a nondescript hole in the wall where the mundane fades into the background and the extraordinary takes center stage.
This is no ordinary watering hole. It's a portal to a simpler time, where pinball arcades stand as sentinels of nostalgia, and the patrons understand the art of minding their own business. The bartender, a master of her craft, conjured magic in the absence of Red Bull, serving tall shots of vodka that hit the mark with surgical precision.
Lyaman's caters to a diverse and vibrant crowd, including the LGBT community, ensuring that everyone feels welcome. Its tucked-away location in a quaint neighborhood offers easy parking, making it a convenient escape from the city's relentless pace.
In a world where the genuine often feels elusive, Lyaman's Tavern stands as a beacon of authenticity. It's a place to gather thoughts, raise a glass, and savor the moments that remind us why the simple joys matter. Cheers to the magic found in the most...
Read moreDC's best pinball bar! Are you a hipster? Do you like pinball? Will you only drink local craft beer, IPA variants or PBR? If all three of these are true, then you probably work here already. If you give a hearty "HELL YEAH!" to at least one of them, then you will enjoy time at Lyman's Tavern.
No really, this bar is great. They have 8 impeccably maintained pinball machines, including some of the newest cabinets to come out. They also rotate the machines semi regularly so there is a new lineup every few months. The bar has a decent selection of craft beer at good prices and full liquor as well. Recently they added a slushie machine with fun boozy concoctions.
The food menu squeezes everything it can out of a tiny kitchen. I personally like the grilled cheese. It's the perfect booze sopping meal for less than $10. If you want a quick snack, they have free popcorn with a variety of seasonings (salt, butter, sriracha, the usuals...). Keep an eye on their social media for food specials.
The crowd is chill but heavy on a Saturday night, but it is pretty quiet on weekdays. The staff is super friendly despite the hipster facades, and the...
Read moreFood was amazing! Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Bar atmosphere so had to split 2 tables for a party of 8. Gave service a 3 because they seemed put out that we had a 16yo in our group, even though they advertise family friendly til 9. If you sit at a high-top, you walk to the bar to order food/drinks. The female bartender ended up giving us great service, where the 2 male bartenders would not refill our drinks, and would only say, "she's waiting on you"...even though they tip share. One even reminded us the place was a bar, referencing the 16yo. The outside seating was full, with families with kids, so we sat inside and apparently that is what triggered the male bartenders. In the end, our party of 8 spent $300, and as the owner, they would be ecstatic about a party of 8 that was in their business a little over an hour spent that amount of money. The bartenders, not so much. I would eat here again because the food was that good, and they...
