My first time trying Ethiopian coffee and it did not disappoint! On top of that trying Rue Cafes fall drinks was even more intriguing. First thoughts are clean, cozy and friendly vibes. Most tables inside were taken by people working on their laptops and the outside patio area was nicely shaded and more laid back.
I went with their iced pumpkin spice latte. The one thing that stood out to me is this truly tasted like a mix of pumpkin and fall spices. The balance was perfect! I usually prefer sweeter drinks and asked the baristas which was the sweetest one. They mentioned all their fall drinks are on the sweeter side and any drink can be made sweeter by request. Mine was perfectly sweet without any alterations, but the employees were nice enough to let me try it first and they’d adjust it accordingly.
I grabbed a table inside because I also ordered a lemon bar which is one of my favorite bakery items. It was delicious! I love all the little pumpkins and fall decor at each table too. It’s a bit of a walk from the metro but not terrible. Overall this was a...
Read moreI'm a regular here. Love that its black owned. I've dined in and out, and I've had almost everything on the menu. Samantha is the sweetest and the best at what she does. So personable and kind --- she is on point!
Today 10/30, I ordered my usual drink and usual sandwich which is the Avo Turkey. I've eaten it a dozen times. Now eating this sandwich a lot I know what to expect and know if something has changed even with my eyes closed. Today was that disappointing day. The Avo Turkey comes on sour doughbread, plenty turkey lunch meat, avocado slices, bacon, tomato slices and plenty mayo. I ordered my food to go this time, drove back home way across town and was unpleasantly surprised there was zero bacon and the lettuce and tomatoes were not fresh. It was very displeasing to say the least. Maybe it was a different cook, who knows. But I truly hope it doesn't happen again. Soured my appetite...

Rue Cafe has been my favorite cafe for years (they serve what might be the best dirty chai latte in the whole city), but I was hyped to see the construction on their patio and hear that they’d be serving drinks. I’m happy to report that just like the coffee, Rue’s patio bar cocktails and light bites are phenomenal!! Highly recommend the wings (perfect level of spice) The Horn Pour citrus-infused vodka cocktail. Big shout out as well to the friendly service and lovely music 😌 will be dragging friends from all over the neighborhood here over the coming weeks.
P.S. They just opened so expect things like hours, drinks, and food options to change as they continue to receive host and...
