We had breakfast here while at the hotel. I had to laugh because it was SO ODD! They had only maybe 6 tables sad and about as many people in the dining room working, so you might think they’d have nice attentive service. And yet. The person seating people was lovely, and he also took our orders, but even he left and every other interaction was with a new person.
The food came and only after about 10 additional minutes did the silverware and napkins show up, and the napkins were WET. It wasn’t enough that you might see if it were oshibori, but they were cold, and very damp with the silverware tucked into a fold, meaning someone folded the napkin in a fine dining way while wet and thought it was well enough. I commented to the person who delivered it, but he just walked away.
My husband got eggs Benedict with crab cakes which he really enjoyed, but it should be noted does not come with an English muffin. It doesn’t list one in the description, but I think most people think crab eggs Benedict is basically the same as any other eggs Benedict with the ham on the muffin being replaced by other protein. So just know to read the description.
However, at least as odd was that the bagel and lox was totally build it yourself - and the cream cheese isn’t included unless you ask for it. Asking for seemed to really annoy the server, and it kicked off another 5+ minute wait after the other guy had come with the wet napkin of cutlery, but it did arrive eventually so they do have it, but you just have to ask. The bagel also was really good. Ivy City does a great job and is available in most grocery stores in the area.
When we were done and the server came back around, we asked for the bill. That was another more than 15 minutes. I just want to add to be very clear, there were more staff around than seated tables. While we were waiting, guy one (the really sweet one) came back around to clear our plates. When he went to pick up our napkins I told him they had arrived wet, and he apologized and assured us it was “not ok,” but that was it. We paid, we left, and that was it.
So, I guess all of this to say the food is good, if odd. The ambiance is gorgeous. And at least one staff member is...
Read moreI had the pleasure of hosting our post-wedding gathering at Moonraker in the Pendry Hotel, and it was nothing short of amazing. Following our wedding brunch cruise, we decided to continue the celebration at Moonraker since we were already staying at the Pendry. We hosted 35-40 guests, and from the initial concept to the final execution, the staff not only brought my vision to life but exceeded my expectations.
Venue: Moonraker impresses with both its stunning interior design and rooftop views. The food was exceptional, and the drinks were excellent. However, what truly sets this venue apart are the outstanding staff.
Kevin (Moonraker GM): Kevin deserves special recognition for his exceptional service. From our initial venue visit to the wedding day, he demonstrated thoroughness, attentiveness, clear communication, and an overall cool demeanor. I knew I could trust Kevin with this important part of our wedding day. He even came in on his day off to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Faith (our waitress): Faith was absolutely fantastic. She was not only kind and funny but seemed to anticipate our needs before we even knew them. We never had to wait for a drink, and our food appeared promptly. Faith has a unique ability to connect with her guests and understand their desires. She sets a high standard for service in DC.
Javier (bartender): Javier was also a standout, crafting one of the best Old Fashioneds in the city. Even when we flooded the bar with orders upon Moonraker's opening, Javier remained unflappable and efficiently served our needs.
In addition to the excellent food and breathtaking views, what truly makes Moonraker exceptional is its staff. I returned a week after my wedding to express my gratitude in person, and the staff still displayed the same level of warmth and care. Moonraker at the Pendry Hotel is a truly remarkable venue with exceptional service, and I can't...
Read moreThe food was great and as expected after reviewing the menu. The selections are tapas/appetizers, so its best to order 2-3 per person and share them famly style.
The view is nice.
Service was terrible. To start, we entered and off of the elevator, noticed a host stand with no one there. We waited patiently for a couple of minutes and no one came, so I entered the lounge and asked a server if anyone was a host tonight. She replied "yes, he is just outside now". I went back to the stand and waited another few moments until he came to seat us, which he did right away.
Getting to our seats, we met the server, who brought us water and asked if we wanted drinks. We ordered a bottle of sake, a Man on the Moon (cocktail) and a glass of champagne. We didnt see anyone again for another 10 minutes... well we saw them but they paid us no mind. 15 minutes in, our drinks came. I had the Man on the Moon, sipped it and immediately commented on how good it was. We continued talking and reviewing the menu, when the server returned reaching for my glass, saying "sir, this is not your Man on the Moon, this is someone else's and its a double". I said OK, but stopped her from taking it commenting that it was good. What were you going to do with it, throw it away anyway, i had taken sips from it. Why not just notify me and let me know it was a staff error?
Another 10 minutes passes and a man comes to the table with a bottle of sake, and I asked if we could also order food with him and he stated "sure". He fumbled with the cork then said, "i will be right back". 5 minutes later, he comes back with a different bottle, now the correct sake.. There is obviously a bartender issue.
He pours sake, takes our order and our food comes out, eventually.
What was intended to be a nice night with conversation, food and drinks, ended up being a night of waiting and...
