My boyfriend and I missed hotel breakfast this morning (I mean a 17 hour drive will knock ya out for a while ya know). But dang am I glad we did! Quick Google search came up with the regular old things that everywhere has. We came across Murray & Paul's and automatically it was a "yep we gotta try it!" Parking was an adventure (being from a smaller non city this was anticipated) parked on a residential road and walked two blocks to the restaurant. Walk in to a very busy quaint little place. Dwight had asked if we were eating in or taking on the go. Took our order and was pure comedic relief while we waited for a table. As I continued to take in the atmosphere loads more of people came in and out to go about their busy lives and here's Dwight acknowledging humans by name, making wonderful small talk, cracking jokes making it an even better atmosphere. Service was elite! And food!? HUGE portion size of everything, along with delicious tasting paired with delicious coffee! We have decided this will be the breakfast spot of choice for the duration of our trip. Thanks Dwight for making it an even greater atmosphere, and to the staff for the excellent food...

I am completely upset and disappointed in the restaurant today. I just picked up breakfast. I ordered over medium eggs and I checked the box and the yolks were pooling around. Over medium eggs are supposed to have soft yolks and a firm egg whites not running eggs. I asked for them to be cooked more and the check out lady said that's what you ordered next time order fried eggs. No, I don't want it fried. The cook said he'll cook more but there will be no yolk at all. So I asked for the eggs to be redone and they wanted to charge me more. Horrible customer service for a restaurant! My family and I have gone there for breakfast for years and usually we sit and there's a different cook do when we need something fixed it gets done. And I've never left a tip less than $10 no matter what I order so I am even more upset they would treat me this way when I've treated them so well. I won't be back of this is how the new cook is. Cooking eggs should not be difficult. Over medium eggs should barely have any...

I love a cute ambiance until it gets racist! My boyfriend and I wanted to get breakfast at a new place and didn’t mind the long wait time. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait.

As we sat, at the 30 minute mark, there were two parties with four white people. Surprisingly, they got served before us. When we brought it to the attn of the staff, they were dismissive.

There were two men who had gotten there before us and still hadn’t been served. And they weren’t in a party of four.

We ordered pancakes, bacon and eggs which I’ll admit, does take longer than sandwiches (which one of the table ordered). But one of the table’s ordered pancakes etc and only had to wait a short amount of time.

It’s sad that even in a Black neighborhood, owned by POC, white customers are still prioritized. I will never...

This was my first time trying this spot out. The good reviews & photos sealed the deal. The staff was very nice & my order was ready in a timely manner. We took our food to go. My son had the pancake special (2 large pancakes, scrambled eggs, & scrapple) & I had the veggie omelet with homefries & toast. My son loved his eggs! Unfortunately, his pancakes had some piece of aluminum or something in them (see pic). My homefries were great! My omelet was runny. Lots of veggies in between a thin layer of egg. It just wasn't good. My son told me he wouldn't go back.

A place doesn't need to be anything more than it claims to be. Sometimes a place can just do exactly what it's supposed to and do it consistently and get high marks. In the no frills neighborhood institution diner category, Murry and Paul's does exactly what you need it to do, dependably, every time. It's there, it's open, it's friendly, it's yummy. Day after day. Not looking for attention. Just there for you.

Old fashioned greasy spoon in the heart of brookland. Offers counter service as well as sit down and a fair number of people were taking out. Food is solid, not outstanding but good prices and large portions are all it really takes to make breakfast. You can't mess up breakfast. We went on a Sunday at 11 and it stayed packed till close to 12, I'd say try to get there by 10. Cash only.
