The Brookland Grill — Restaurant in Washington

Myself and two friends traveled to DC for an event. I usually try to avoid chain restaurants so came across Brookland Grill and wanted to try it. It reminded me a lot of a local restaurant that I basically grew up in that closed due to covid, not fancy in the least but they know how to cook! I ordered a breakfast with eggs, bacon, and home fries. When I tell you that it was amazing, I mean ah-ma-zing... You are probably thinking, how hard is it to screw that up, but believe me, it happens. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Also, I love coffee; strong and good tasting coffee.... On 7/8/2024, my entire order was incorrect. I ordered a big breakfast platter with pork bacon and eggs. The Platter comes with home fried potatoes, toast and grits. What I received was a bacon and egg sandwich with jelly. No potatoes and no grits. I also ordered a side order of corned beef hash. The corned beef hash was burnt. I also ordered a turkey bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. I received turkey bacon and egg but no cheese. I called the Brookland Grill and was told that they took the order down wrong and to contact DoorDash. I've ordered from the Brookland Grill before and no problems but I won't order from them again. The crab cakes were HORRIBLE. They put mustard in the crab cakes and they were flat and wide and burnt! This is terrible, I don’t see how they let this leave the kitchen. The mac n cheese and collard greens were mediocre..kids could’ve cooked this. The side were watery as you could see. First and last time eating from here. This is laughable and the cook needs to be fired. If you have crab cakes on the menu please have a cook from MARYLAND. It’s a crab cake, it’s not supposed to be flat AT ALL.
