I am writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration with the experience I encountered at Hoja Taqueria tonight. I had made a reservation for 9:00 p.m., expecting a delightful dining experience that included the ambiance, the food, and the overall environment.
To my utter surprise and dismay, upon arriving at the restaurant, I found it closed for a private event. Instead of being informed in advance, I was offered a seat outside of the restaurant. This completely shattered the expectations I had for a pleasant and immersive dining experience.
The decision to close the restaurant without notifying customers with reservations is unacceptable and reflects a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. The essence of my visit was lost, as I was deprived of the ambiance and atmosphere that initially attracted me to Hoja Taqueria.
I am deeply disappointed by the lack of professionalism and consideration demonstrated by the management. It is disheartening to witness such a lapse in customer service, especially considering the anticipation I had for this visit.
I hope this feedback serves as a constructive criticism, urging the restaurant to reevaluate its reservation and event management processes. As a customer, I believe in providing honest feedback, and unfortunately, my experience tonight compels me to leave a...
Read moreThe service experience was disappointing. I had a few interactions with staff that came off as rude or dismissive. Most notably, it wasn’t disclosed anywhere at the bar (where you order and pay before sitting down) that an 18% gratuity is automatically included. Because of this, I tipped twice on several occasions.
During one visit, after I’d already paid (with two tips), I asked for a small refill of the 2–3 oz salsa that came with my meal. I was told there was an extra charge, which I understood — but I politely asked if one of the tips I’d already left could cover it, as I didn’t know I left two. The bartender responded with a sarcastic, passive-aggressive question and facial expression that made the moment awkward and left me feeling uncomfortable, like I was doing something wrong for even asking for a refill of this thimble of salsa. It’s also in a hostel- so many who stay here are dollar-conscious.
It also felt odd to be expected to tip before receiving any service, especially when drinks like margaritas are pre-mixed and there’s little interaction afterward.
Still, the food is what keeps this place afloat. I truly wish I could leave a separate 10/10 just for the cooks — they’re doing amazing work and deserve every...
Read moreAn alright choice for a late night dinner when options are limited. I stumbled upon this place on a Monday night around 9pm and the tables were taken by a few groups. The bar was pretty empty at this point so I was able to be seated somewhat soon.
Pros: many options for small bites and sides if you’re looking for something light food came out very quick (under 10mins) Vanessa? The bartender was attentive with my needs and checked up on me often and refilled my water regularly I ordered a burrito bowl which looked small upon first glance but it was really filling! I didn’t finish the whole thing. The corn in the bowl was also so sweet and refreshing great place to meet people who are staying in the hostel
Cons: I was standing at the “wait here to be seated” sign for a while and multiple staff members walked past me (making eye contact) and not seating or acknowledging me. I was very close to leaving for this reason note that there is an automatic 18% service charge regardless of your group size
Overall it was a fine experience. Would go back if I needed a quick bite to eat late at night! I didn’t try any of their drinks, however they...
