Similar to the other one-star review on here. My girlfriend and I came here for one of our date nights recently after reading about it in DC Eater - which has never steered us wrong. Well, there is a first time for everything. It started with a prolonged wait to be seated, which was confusing because it did not appear to be busy. After being sitting down, it took around 15 minutes or so before we could even ask for water. When the waiter finally came over, he just sort of stood there without saying anything. There was a clear disconnect as when spoken to, the waiter just sort of mumbled back. Anyway, after another 20 minutes or so with no food on table and no sign of other food coming out, I decided it was time to cut my losses. After informing the waiter of our decision to leave, he responds with “we won’t miss you”. Excuse me? Must be hard to find good help these days. No need for the disrespect, I was extremely courteous from the moment I walked in. Shame on DC Eater for recommending this place. I don’t know if I will trust their judgment moving forward, unless this was a special circumstance where DC Eater was paid for their endorsement. If you have made it this far, there are many other better and more authentic options to...
Read moreDO NOT DINE HERE. The food was dry, way too fried, and overly salty. Service was spotty and slow (we had to hunt the wait staff down to refill our water glasses each time), they didn't have all the wines on the wine list. When we wanted to order sodas, they said they didn't have any (how is that possible?!?). You could feel how chaotic and stressed the only two waiters (one of them was also the bartender). The quality of the food was terrible and not worth the price which is a good deal when the food is actually edible. My husband and I were still chugging water two hours after dinner because the food...
Read moreTook a chance on this new restaurant because I like Greek food, trying new spots, and the early reviews were positive and the restaurant got a good write up in DC Eater. Unfortunately, it seems like Sakerum just threw together this place on a whim and never fully committed to the idea of running a Greek restaurant. On a Friday night, they were missing half their wine list, the Fish speciality, and any staff with knowledge about the menu. You cannot serve a 14 course tasting menu without a single staff member who can explain the dishes. The food was mediocre and the dessert was awful (and Asian for...
